Hi, I’m Belinda — the founder of Lexlyn Wellness.

Before I reintroduce my hampers, I wanted to try something a little different this time, something a little more visible, more relatable.

I believe, when we share our story, we help others. Particulary when others are quietly struggling, wondering, "is it just me?". Rarely, have I ever heard someone's story and not felt either inspired, uplifted, grateful, or "me too". And, if I am really reflective, so many people we encounter in our lives have a story.

A few years ago, I found myself in a season of life where I was constantly showing up for everyone else — work, family, responsibilities, expectation after expectation, whether or not that expectation was mine to own. Somewhere where along the way, I lost myself a little.

Not in a dramatic way.
Just in the quiet way that happens when you keep saying yes, keep pushing through, keep putting yourself last.

I started to get curious.
I started asking questions.
Who am I, outside of all the roles I carry?
What do I actually need?
What does self-care really mean?
That journey is what led to Lexlyn Wellness.

Happy International Women's Day! 🌸 As we honor this special day, let's celebrate the incredible progress women have made, while also acknowledging there's still work to be done to achieve true equality.

In recent decades, women have broken barriers and challenged societal norms. We've seen female leaders rise to power, women excelling in traditionally male-dominated fields, and an ever-increasing push for gender equality. Women are now more educated, empowered, and vocal than ever before.

However women still face significant challenges such as the gender pay gap, underrepresentation in leadership roles, and the prevalence of gender-based violence and discrimination. To truly create a world where all women can thrive, we must continue to push for change and support each other along the way.

Here are five authentic ways women can support other women:

1. **Mentorship**: Share your knowledge and experience with other women. Offer guidance and encouragement to help them navigate their career paths and personal journeys.

2. **Advocacy**: Use your voice to amplify the achievements and concerns of women around you. Speak up against injustices and champion the successes of your fellow women.

3. **Collaboration**: Work together, not against each other. Embrace teamwork and create opportunities for collaboration, fostering a sense of unity and collective growth.

4. **Empathy**: Listen to the stories and experiences of other women with an open heart. Show compassion and understanding, offering support when needed.

5. **Celebration**: Celebrate the achievements of women, big or small. Acknowledge and appreciate the efforts and accomplishments of your peers, creating a culture of recognition and positivity.

By standing together and lifting each other up, we can create a brighter future for all women. Let's continue to support, inspire, and empower one another every day. 💪💖

Do you find asking for what you need challengeing? Me too! Asking for what I need to thrive has been something I have had to learn how to do. If I am completely honest, it's still a work in progresss - I am still a work in progress. Learning to ask for what you need can be incredibly difficult. As women, we are socialised and conditioned to be a 'good girl', not to ruffle feathers, be compliant and meet the seemingly never ending expectations that everyone else has of us.

Over the years, I have found that leads to a range of different feelings: resentment, burnout and exhaustion, frustration, just to name a few.

Although I have become better at speaking up and staying true to myself, this has not been without its challenges.

The biggest challenge I find, lies in the response of the other party when we communicate our needs. What I have come to realise is this: learning to communicate our needs is only half the battle. Accepting that you cannot control the response of the other party and learning to move through the discomfort of that is the other half of the equation. Of course, acceptance does not necessarily make it easier, but I do believe is that the alternative is stay quit and live in resentment, exhaustion or burnout. As mch as the discomfort of asking for what we need is not always a fun time, not asking for what I need isn't not ideal either.
