There are 3 areas that are impacted when experiencing fertility difficulties:
🌿Psychological/emotional
🌿Medical/physiological
🌿Couple/relational

We tend to focus solely on the medical/physical aspect… but the other two areas also need support during this time as they can often suffer.

The fertility journey should be an integrative approach; combining support for all three elements in order to encourage optimal physical and mental well-being.

Confidentiality is what underpins EVERYTHING we do as therapists. It encompasses everything from storing your notes safely & securely, to not discussing any identifiable information when engaging in mandated supervision.

As a client, you should be fully aware as to what the limits of confidentiality are when engaging in therapy; whether it be counselling or psychology sessions.

These limits are outlined in my counselling contract and I go through them with you to ensure you understand.

Limits can vary from country to country but generally, it centres around:
🌺intent to harm oneself or others
🌿knowledge of any continued harm
🌸requests by a court to provide your client notes

Discussing what your anticipated limits are ahead of beginning the journey is so important.

Many times, couples are often thrown into disarray during their fertility journey because they don’t see eye to eye on what the next steps should be, putting strain on not only their relationship but the whole fertility journey.

It can be difficult to discuss… but it’s a conversation that is so important.

The Dual Process Model of Grief - what is it?
*TW - pregnancy loss

Unlike traditional linear models of grief that suggest we move through set stages, this model suggests we actually move back and forth continuously between being loss-oriented and restoration-oriented.

When we’re loss oriented, we’re focused on our grief. We sit in it. When we’re restoration oriented we move towards being in a state of action, action that will help bring us back into ‘normalcy’.

Moving in this way can offer create feelings of frustrations along the lines of “what’s wrong with me… I was fine yesterday, why am I like this today?”

There is nothing wrong with you. Your grief is your own and you will move through it in the way that is best for you❤️

Many of us often struggle knowing how best to support someone who has experienced loss, particularly pregnancy loss. We want to offer support and be there for them, but sometimes it can be difficult knowing how best to offer that support.

The majority of people tend to think that by not discussing or offering an opportunity to talk about the lost loved one, they’re sparing the grieving person from any more pain.

However grieving people often are so grateful and appreciative when someone offers to talk about their lost one, because it’s showing that they have not been forgotten and that their grief is valid.

Setting healthy goals! 💁🏻‍♀️ I’m so so passionate about realising our true innate power and reclaiming power in way we have lost it.

Healthy goals are goals that are fully within our control, the success of them doesn’t depend on any external situation or person.

Is there a way we can set a healthy goal, a one fully within our control, that can help us move towards the top end of the spectrum of being in an optimal state of well-being to maximise chances of pregnancy.

Email counselling 📧 This is a great option for those who perhaps struggle with verbalising their throughly and feelings in the moment, or worried that that may ‘freeze’ in a session. It’s also a great option for those who are uncomfortable either being face to face or online.

So how does it work?
So to start with, two times during the week are agreed upon by both client and counsellor. For example, let’s say Wednesday 4pm. That is when the counsellor can expect to receive your email. They will then reflect on what has been written and formulate a response which will be sent at the second agreed time.
