Today’s focus for Speech Pathology Week is Wellbeing through Communication.

For adults, being able to communicate and swallow safely is central to health and quality of life. Whether it is finding your voice again after a stroke, enjoying a meal with family, or feeling confident to connect with others, speech pathologists play a vital role.

At TherapyNow, we are proud to support adults and their families, helping them build confidence, independence and stronger connections through therapy.

Day 5 of Speech Pathology Week is all about Opportunity through Communication.

Meet Anthony, one of our speech pathologists at TherapyNow. In this session, he is working with children using a Sounds-Write lesson - an evidence-based, structured, and sequential approach -exploring different ways to spell the /oe/ sound like oe, o, oa and ow. Learning these skills helps children read new words more easily and with confidence.

Being able to read and communicate well gives children more chances to learn, take part in everyday life, and build independence.

That is the real impact of speech pathology.

Every child deserves to be heard and understood. 💙

For some, that happens through alternative and augmentative communication (AAC). AAC can be a speech-generating device, an iPad app, or even a simple picture board. These tools don’t stop children from talking. In fact, research shows AAC can help develop speech, language and confidence by giving children a reliable way to communicate right now.

At TherapyNow, our speech pathologists work with families to explore the right supports so communication builds connection, confidence and inclusion.

This Speech Pathology Week we’re celebrating Inclusion through Communication and the many ways children can find their voice.

We’re proud to join Speech Pathology Australia in celebrating Speech Pathology Week 2025.

This year’s theme, Impact Through Communication, highlights the powerful role speech pathologists play in every stage of life.

All week we will be shining a light on our TherapyNow speech pathologists. They make a difference every day through their care, skills and passion for communication.
