Bron is our wonderful Practice Manager and the calm, capable presence behind the scenes.

With over 15 years’ of experience in multidisciplinary medical practice management, she keeps the clinic running smoothly and is our go-to for just about everything.

She also has a great sense of humour, and somehow always the last one standing at our work dinners!

Language development through play is a natural, child‑led approach where communication skills grow during fun, everyday play activities.

Children learn best when they are engaged, relaxed, and enjoying themselves, and play provides the perfect environment for this 🤸

Our Speech Pathologist, Georgia, creates a fun, engaging and supportive environment where clients feel comfortable and confident. She thoughtfully tailors each session to the individual, whether that means incorporating their favourite toys, following their special interests, or even dancing along to hip hop music to make therapy meaningful and enjoyable.

Calling all new grad and early-career OTs 👋

Session 2 is coming up next Friday (27/2/26)

The topic is: Organising the Chaos, realistic time skills for early career OTs

OT Sparks: Foundations for Practice is a 12-month professional development and supervision program for early-career occupational therapists, delivered in collaboration with Alike Health.

Designed for OTs working in community and private practice, the program supports therapists who may feel underprepared for the complexity of real-world caseloads, clinical decision-making, and professional expectations. OT Sparks bridges that gap through structured learning, practical skill development, and supportive peer-based supervision.

The program runs monthly and offers a hybrid format - in person at Alike Health in Newcastle, with an online option available for OTs across Australia. Sessions focus on real clinical challenges, guided reflection, confidence-building, and developing sustainable habits for long-term practice.

This program is ideal for:
✔️ New graduate and early-career OTs (0–5 years)
✔️ Community and private practice clinicians
✔️ OTs working with mixed or complex caseloads
✔️ OTs seeking structured support alongside 1:1 supervision

Flexible ticket options are available, including single sessions, bundles, or the full 12-month program.

💫 Meet Dr Liz

Dr Liz is the Founder, Director and Rehabilitation Medicine Specialist at Alike Health and the driving force behind our vision.

Her goal has always been clear: to create healthcare that is accessible, dignified and professional, delivered in a stylish and safe environment where people feel truly welcome.

She also pioneered Australia’s first accessible aesthetics clinic (yes, we have a ceiling hoist!).

Through Aesthetics at Alike, profits from aesthetic treatments help reduce out of pocket costs for some of her medical patients, including those on a Disability Support Pension, making medical care more equitable and inclusive.

On weekends, you’ll find Liz wrangling her four small but mighty children, enjoying a good coffee and spending time in the garden 🪴

✨ OT Sparks | Session 2 ✨
Collaborative Approaches to Health & Participation in Intellectual Disability

People with intellectual disability experience significant and ongoing health inequities.

Medical issues are often under-recognised, communication differences can obscure early warning signs, and sensory or environmental factors may compound functional vulnerability. In this context, occupational therapists are frequently the first to notice subtle but meaningful changes - in function, participation, behaviour, or carer systems.

Session 2 of OT Sparks focuses on strengthening collaborative, holistic approaches to health and participation for people with intellectual disability.

This session integrates occupational therapy reasoning with medical insight from rehabilitation physician Dr Liz Thompson, supporting participants to:
• recognise early indicators of health and functional change
• understand how unmet health needs may present as functional or behavioural shifts
• strengthen clinical reasoning at the interface of health, disability, and participation
• collaborate more effectively with medical professionals and support systems
• support participation while navigating complexity, risk, and vulnerability

Rather than working in parallel, this session emphasises working together - bringing medical and occupational perspectives into meaningful, coordinated care.
