Most people who come to see me
don’t look burnt out.

They look brilliant.

Capable.
Relied on.
The one who holds it all.

Maybe that’s you.

But when the day ends
your body doesn’t know it’s over.

The jaw stays tight.
The breath stays shallow.
The nervous system keeps scanning.

You call it ambition.
Drive.
Leadership.

But often it’s just a body
that hasn’t been given permission
to switch off.

Sound speaks directly to the nervous system.

quartz crystal singing bowls emit layered harmonic tones the body recognises as safety.

Their frequencies gently guide the system
out of vigilance
and into repair.

You lie down.

The bowls begin.

And something in you softens
before the mind has time to interfere.

Stillness isn’t something you force.

It’s something the body remembers
when it finally feels safe.

Sound helps it remember.

Somewhere along the way women notice something.

They can lead.
Build.
Carry responsibility.

But the body carrying it all
was never taught how to release what it holds.

Pressure accumulates.
The system adapts.

It works.

Until it doesn’t.

Eventually the question shifts from
how much can I do?

to something far more interesting:

how much life can my body actually hold?

That’s the inquiry behind The Turning Point.

A 12-week in-person mentorship exploring what happens when strength, nervous system capacity and energetic precision are trained together in one system.

Studio sessions.
Sanctuary immersion days.
Science and Soul.

We live in a culture obsessed with feeling good.

But healing asks something different.

It asks us to get good at feeling.

To build the capacity to sit with sensation.

To let grief move.

To let rage breathe.

To let tenderness exist without armour.

Because what we refuse to feel

doesn’t disappear.

It becomes tension.

Compulsion.

A pattern we call personality.

But when the body is given safe ways to process emotion…

something extraordinary happens.

The nervous system softens.

Energy returns.

And the life we actually want becomes possible.

As a kid, I was certain I was meant to be a singer —
schooled in the holy trinity of childhood stardom:
confidence, delusion, and Disney.

My best friend and I held lounge-room concerts,
channelling Madonna, Kylie and — above all — Ariel from The Little Mermaid.

Being able to sing like Ariel felt like the highest form of success — the peak ascension in the cosmology of pre-pubescent dreams.

The only problem?
I didn’t have a singer’s voice.
I was more Babe-the-Pig belting an earnest la-la-laaaaaa than Beyoncé.

It didn’t take long for the delusion to dissolve;
I pivoted into other career paths.

But the longing to sing never died —
it slipped into the Jungian basement with all the other disowned selves, a little pulse in the dark, waiting.

And since this year has been all about honouring
“the enchanted forest within” —
a singing lesson with Fiona felt like the perfect way
to celebrate another lap around the sun.

We took chai down to Crystal Creek—
where the wind etched soft hieroglyphs on the water,
ripples opening like seams in the seen world;
light skated over the rocks in fleeting geometry
and dragonflies danced across a scene that must’ve been borrowed from a fairytale.

And there we sang.

We played a kind of sonic chasey —
one of us setting the tone, the other following, riding the pitch as it curved and changed direction. “Vocal surfing,” as Fiona calls it.

We sang, we laughed, we swam.
We turned a small moment into a mythic one.
But the deeper medicine was this:
I realised I wasn’t there to “sound good.”
I was there to reclaim power. Alignment. Truth.

I noticed how often, in my actual life,
a flicker of doubt interrupts my voice —
how quickly I apologise for speaking too long,
how easily I trail off, mumble, shrink, how doubt collapses the sound before it even leaves my mouth.

And just like in martial arts —where a single mental wobble becomes a physical one —the voice betrays you instantly. Any inner hesitation becomes an outer tremor.

You can hear everything in a voice —where it’s afraid, where it’s free, where it contracts, where it wants to soar. A roadmap to the parts of us still longing to be claimed.
