If your jaw clicks, crunches or feels tight when you eat… read this

First thing
Don’t keep forcing it open

Instead
Get your thumb inside the jaw
Work into those tighter muscles
Create a bit of movement and space

Then retest
See if anything feels different

Simple, but it can make a big difference

Give it a go, let me know if it helps

Ever wondered why I start your jaw pain appointments face down?

A lot of jaw pain, headaches and neck tension actually start here. Through the upper traps and right at the base of the skull.

Often from that head forward posture we all fall into.

So I’ll work through the tissue, release along the spine and create space where things are tight.

When this area moves better, everything above it tends to follow.

I’ve had a lot of people send me this video of LeAnn Rimes…

This is a pterygoid release
A muscle on the inside of your jaw that plays a big role in clenching, grinding and chewing.

It can definitely be a sensitive area especially if you’re holding a lot of tension there.

But this is a little more intensity than I’d usually go with.

In clinic, I like to release through the neck and the outside of the jaw first. So by the time I get to the inside, it feels a lot more manageable.

If you’re waking up with jaw pain, try this in the shower

Pop your fingers inside your jaw
Gently pull and stretch through the cheeks
Create a bit of space and movement through the area

It can help reduce puffiness and ease some of that built-up tension

Give it a go, let me know if this helps!

If you’re dealing with headaches, migraines, jaw pain or sinus tension… this is the appointment you need

This is my head, neck and jaw treatment

Where I work through the inside and outside of the jaw
As well as the front and back of the neck

Releasing tension
Reducing compression
And helping everything move the way it should

If this sounds like you, you can book via the link in bio

If this is your work from home setup… we need to talk

Chin forward
Neck pushed out
Jaw clenched

And then we wonder why there’s pain

It’s not random
It’s repetitive

Jaw pain isn’t just the jaw

It’s neck
Front of neck
Inside and outside of the masseter

So this is how I treat it
Layer by layer
Reducing tension and compression as I go

So when I get to the jaw
It actually responds

Your daily reminder your jaw might be doing the most.

If you’re clenching or grinding, don’t just ignore it and hope for the best.

Try this when you’re doing your skincare
A little more pressure
A little more intention
And actually work into the muscles that are holding tension

Simple, but it makes a difference

march, lately 💕

a full one in every sense
big opportunities, lots of growth, a few pinch me moments… and the quieter ones in between

I made a conscious effort to put myself out there more this month
and it’s funny how quickly things can shift

you really never know who’s watching

Every musician needs this before a big show.
Even Casey Barnes.

Ahead of his CMC headline set, we treated tension through the anterior neck, jaw and base of the skull.

Releasing the sternocleidomastoid (SCM) helps reduce pressure through the thyroid cartilage and hyoid, improving vocal range and control.

We also worked intraorally to release the masseter and address jaw tension pulling things forward.

Less restriction
Better movement
More control on stage

Can’t wait to see Casey rock out this weekend
