I wouldn't say birth & postpartum work is my passion, I prefer to say that helping women through birth & postpartum is what I was put on this earth to do. A woman's body is amazing!! And I cannot wait to help you truly believe that about yourself. 🌼🌼

Being a new mum is hard enough! Please don't put up with pain during or after you express, thinking it must be normal. It really isn't normal and more often than not, the fl**ge sizes you get with your breast pump are the incorrect size for you!

Most companies seem to think it's best to put 21mm and 24mm fl**ges in the box, when statistically speaking the average size of ni***es are 15mm-19mm. That's not to say some people don't have larger sized ni***es, they absolutely do! But the majority of women would benefit from checking their ni**le size and either purchasing inserts that fit into your current fl**ges or some companies do have smaller fl**ges so you don't need to worry about cleaning another piece of equipment.

Such an important thing to remember mamas is that you can say NO to anything that you don't want to do, at any time!

You can ask for the Care Professional to leave the room if you want to talk things over with your birth partner in private.

You can use your B.R.A.I.N technique to help you gather information you need so that you can make an informed decision.

First you will determine if you or your baby are not in any danger or need urgent medical attention - you can do this by asking the question "Is my baby or myself in immediate danger?"

If the answer is "no" then you can go ahead and use the B.R.A.I.N technique.

B - BENEFITS / What are the benefits by doing what is being recommended?
R - RISKS / What are the risks involved by doing what is being recommended?
A - ALTERNATIVES / What alternatives are there to what is being recommended?
I - INSTINCTS / What do my instincts say? How do I feel about what is being recommended?
N - NOTHING / There is no medical emergency, so what if we do nothing and reassess in an hour or two? I will call if I need you sooner.

Before the birth of my Daughter, I wasn't overly keen on breastfeeding - for no reason in particular, I just didn't feel it was for me.
I have always loved hearing other mums successes in breastfeeding, whether it was a week, a month, a year or more, I was always so proud of them.
Fast forward to when my girl was born, doing skin-to-skin soaking up my first moments with her and she latched on. From that moment on I knew breastfeeding was for us. Little did I know our journey would last 2+ years before I cut her off, haha!
Thankfully it came easy and we had no troubles, though it isn't lost on me how hard it really can be to establish a positive breastfeeding journey. So please know I am here and that I would LOVE to help you.

We hear this often ✨ No Two Births Are The Same ✨ so how do we best prepare for our upcoming birth if no two births are the same?

Well you find a really cool Doula like myself and I help you! Kidding 😉 kind of..

Education is how, and finding education outside of a hospital is a great first step! By no means am I saying ignore what your Care Provider has said - you won't ever find me saying that. What I mean is, if something doesn't sit right with YOU or if you feel like what they're proposing you do isn't something you want or feel comfortable in doing, then more often then not there is another way to go about things whilst you keep the control over the situation. It is YOUR birth after all. 💁🏼‍♀️

Finding someone who can educate you in both the benefits and risks in any and all situations is the first step in preparing yourself and your body for the birth of your baby. 🌻
