Do you use escapism as a way to deal with or avoid pain? Or do you find it actually helps heal as you intentionally avoid engaging with reality for a moment.
Either way, we need to see that it can be harmful to disrupt the natural healing process in facing our feelings, but it can help us take a break from overwhelming our senses too.
Be it social media, over working ourselves, substances, shopping or even daydreaming, we can escape in many ways. Knowing how to balance this with facing our regular life challenges or any trauma is key.
