I am excited to promote these 6 weeks group programs I have designed for teens.. ✨ Irecently taught some teen yoga and was in awe of the way the students loved it, the body connection and mindfulness. šŸ§˜šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø
I just love supporting teens. I think that the teen years are some of the most challenging for so many of us and I wish I had support around learning skills for emotional regulation and connecting to inner strengths when I was a teen! šŸ•Šļø

If you know someone who has a teen that wants connection, please share this, or send them to the link via the council.

There are two programs both run over 6 weeks and are about bringing teens together to talk about emotions, regulation, understanding themselves and others and connecting with innate strengths. 🌱

The Details: šŸ—“ When: Starting May 20 & 21 (6-week Term) šŸ“ Where: Noosaville & Noosa Heads ✨ Cost: FREE Supported by Living Well Noosa

How to join: šŸ”— Click the link in my bio to register via the Noosa Council website & email me. Spots are limited to keep the groups small and supportive.

New home for Alana Grace Counselling — and I couldn’t feel more grateful for this space, and working alongside like-minded, wonderful practitioners .collective.

A beautifully warm and calming space:
🌸 Natural coloursā€ØšŸŒø Low-toxā€ØšŸŒø Soft lightingā€ØšŸŒø By the riverā€ØšŸŒø Option for river views or fresh air (with louvres down for privacy).. (& there is just something really special about dazing at the trees that creates space in our minds..

Thoughtfully designed for the sensitive soul, supporting calm, clarity, and connection with soothing, regulating surroundings.

The environments we step into can gently shape how we feel, and your experience here truly matters to me.

My counselling practice has never been this thoughtfully designed and I know as a client how jolting overly clinical environments can feel for the nervous system. That’s what makes the gratitude of working in such a regulating space even more meaningful.

Currently available Wednesdays.
Please feel free to reach out for more details.

A common myth about counselling is that it’s about advice. In reality, it’s often about creating enough space for clarity to emerge.

We often think we need advice. We feel stuck, searching for answers outside of ourselves, and say, ā€œI don’t know.ā€ But with reflection, regulation and being truly heard, that sense of not knowing often begins to soften.

Not because the answer is given, but because it becomes clearer within.

What can feel like confusion is often the mind responding to noise, pressure, and overwhelm. In a quieter, more regulated space, something steadier can begin to surface.

I’ve often noticed that after being heard and mirrored, the ā€œI don’t knowā€ can shift. Clarity begins to emerge in its own time.

The world is noisy enough. Counselling offers space to slow that noise down, and to gently reconnect with your own inner clarity.

This is often what happens in the quiet of being truly being heard.

With understanding, the conversation begins to shift from finding clarity to finding self-trust.

Hey, I’m Alana.

Grace is my middle name. I didn’t like it when I was younger, it felt ā€œtoo religiousā€ whatever that meant. But when I started thinking about a name for counselling practice, it made sense.

That year I noticed little signs that kept bringing me back to ā€œGrace.ā€ Maybe thats a theme in my life, something that guides me from within... Grace!

I started getting emails addressed to Grace, while teaching yoga at a studio with another Alana they asked if I could be called Grace. Grace seemed to be everywhere, quietly reminding me of what I value. I even rediscovered a book I’d bought years ago called Bright Shining Grace that I’d forgotten about.

I’ve never believed in force. For me, resilience and strength come from a gentler place, not pushing or forcing. That’s why grace feels like such a fitting word, it reflects the values I try to bring into my work.
šŸ¤Give yourself grace. From there you can give others grace.
šŸ¤Even in struggle, look for what’s working. It’s gentle.
šŸ¤With clarity, we don’t always need force.

I also believe we are always supported and that there’s always hope. That healing is possible.

I wouldn’t work with someone if I didn’t believe in their capacity to grow, because belief matters so much in therapy.

Your strengths are already inside you.
Sometimes it’s just a matter of noticing them and letting them guide you.

If you want a little more grace in your life, I’d be happy to walk alongside you. I’ve learned a few things along the way about what supports us to return to this place, but mostly, I’m still learning too,

We all are.

Our capacity is built on a foundation of safety.

When we don’t feel safe, ā€œnoā€ can feel impossible.
Challenging ourselves, speaking from our truth, can feel like danger in our bodies. So many things, unique to us all, feel terrifying so much so we avoid it at all cost, simply because our extremely intelligent bodies are trying to protect us….

We are only ever moving through a small number of nervous system states

🌱Safe and connected
🌱Play and curiosity
🌱Fawn please and appease
🌱Flight anxious busy escape
🌱Fight defensive pushing back
🌱Freeze shutdown

The goal isn’t to avoid discomfort. Building new pathways requires it. The goal is to learn how to map our nervous system so we can come back to center.

So we can recognise old stories showing up in the present, in our bodies.

Moving from our heads and into our bodies allows us to remind our system
ā€œI am here. I am safe. This is a new moment, not an old one. I might be experiencing freeze/fawn/ but I can take a breath and I know I am safe right now because I know my nervous system. I know what’s triggering it.ā€

Change, and building trust in ourselves, is a slow process.

There is nothing fast about growth. 🌻

šŸ’If a counsellor doesn’t have a counsellor, I personally wouldn’t want them as my therapist.

šŸ’This work asks us to hold a lot,Ā  and we all need somewhere safe to put it down.

šŸ’It’s also important that there’s no power imbalance (to me anyway). We’re really humans supporting each other…Maybe it’s a bit more ethical with the therapeutic relationship,, but at the end of the day, it’s two souls sitting side by side.

šŸ’Most counsellors don’t just choose this path randomly. At some point, they’ve been in deep grief, pain, or felt tangled up themselves. And when someone helps us through that by creating safety, something shifts, we want to give that back.

šŸ’Being supported is part of being able to support.Ā
