Here, I am using dry needling in the shoulder to address localised myofascial trigger points and reduce persistent muscle tension, particularly where it is contributing to pain or restricted movement.

Progress isn’t linear. It’s built through repetition, guidance, and small adjustments that add up.

Keep going.

For good mobility in the shoulder joint, it is important that the ball sits centre on the socket and that it can glide freely during upward movement of the arm.

This gliding mechanism, when lost, can lead to impingement and bursitis.

If you are experiencing shoulder pain, we can help. Book an appointment via the link in bio today.

For most people, what shows up as wrist pain is actually coming from accumulated tension through the forearm and elbow, especially with long hours at a desk.

Typing, gripping a mouse, and constant scrolling all load the same tissues again and again, and over time that builds into stiffness, irritation, and pain.

So instead of just treating the sore spot, we work through the whole chain. That means releasing the overworked forearm muscles, restoring movement through the elbow and wrist, and helping the area tolerate load properly again.

That is why the change tends to last, rather than just settling things briefly.

If your wrist has been bothering you for a while, it is worth looking beyond the wrist itself.

If your quads and hip flexors feel tight, stretching can help. But if it keeps coming back, there’s usually more going on.

This is active myofascial release. We work through the muscle while it’s moving, so it can ease off and function properly again.

Stretching still has its place. This just adds another layer when it’s not enough on its own.

Lower trapezius activation

One muscle that often gets overlooked in shoulder rehab is the lower trapezius.

When it’s working well, it helps the shoulder blade move downward, rotate upward, and stabilise the shoulder during arm movement.

When it’s underactive, the upper traps and neck muscles tend to take over, which can contribute to shoulder or neck discomfort.

In this exercise we’re using resistance tubes to cue lower trap engagement while keeping the neck relaxed and the shoulders away from the ears.

Key areas we focus on:

⭐️Keep the chest gently lifted.
⭐️Let the shoulder blades slide down and slightly together.
⭐️Avoid shrugging the shoulders.
⭐️Move slowly and stay in control.

Often small changes in shoulder blade control can make a big difference to how the whole shoulder feels and moves.

If shoulder or neck tension is something you deal with regularly, improving how the shoulder blade muscles work can be an important part of the puzzle.

Meet Dr Jo

Many people know me as “Jo the Osteo.” My path into Osteopathy began after a serious motorbike accident in 2004 that nearly took my life.

During my recovery I worked with an Osteopath and experienced first-hand how osteopathic care can support the body’s ability to recover and adapt. That experience changed the direction of my life, and having lived through this severe injury, I understand how frustrating and confronting persistent pain can be. It’s why I take the time to listen carefully and look at the whole picture of what someone has been through.

Before becoming an Osteopath I worked as an Emergency Medical Technician in Germany, and later as a Remedial Massage Therapist.

I have also lectured Myotherapy and PT students.

Today my focus is helping people move better, reduce pain, and feel more confident in their bodies again.

If you're dealing with pain or movement issues and would like support, you can book an appointment through the link in my bio.
