This week the Work Rehab Brisbane team donated $1378.60 to The Lady Musgrave Trust. This is Queensland’s oldest charity, and 139 years since its inception there is still a need to provide transitional housing to homeless young women and their children and transform lives.

It was a pleasure to meet their CEO, Victoria Parker, to learn about the work they do, their “Handy Guide” resources for women in crisis and their Logan Housing Project, due for completion by Christmas. Through the generosity of many stakeholders and valuable donations like ours, a new housing complex is being built with self-contained homes, shared social spaces and in-home community case management.

Every young woman and child deserves to feel safe and The Lady Musgrave Trust works tirelessly to achieve this in challenging times. We are so proud that Work Rehab prioritises the welfare of others and allows us to give generously to charities that are important to each of our teams.
We encourage you to learn more about their history and their current work in SE QLD. https://ladymusgravetrust.org.au/

Yesterday was World Health Day (WHD) and an opportunity to celebrate our health professionals and the important work we do for Australian workers. We asked one of our Rehabilitation Consultants, Liam Goodwin what WHD means to him…

WHD gives us a chance to reflect on what it means to be healthy and what this means for our role as health professionals.

The World Health Organisation’s definition of health says that health is more than just being free from disease or injury. It’s a state of physical, mental and social well-being, and allows us to live our life the best that we can.

In my role as a Rehabilitation Consultant, this means looking beyond a person’s injury. It means using a holistic lens to view how their life is impacted. In my experience it’s important to consider how the injury and time away from work is affecting a person physically, mentally, emotionally and psychosocially, and then using this information to guide all the stakeholders involved in the person’s rehab. Working together promotes positive outcomes and timely/sustainable recovery at work.

World Health Day is a humble reminder that my role is more than just “case management”. It’s about supporting people to restore their health, empowering them to overcome their injury, and promoting improved quality of life.”

Last Friday we celebrated our amazing Rehabilitation Counsellors (RC) and the work they do! They support our clients to achieve their return to work and career goals, as well as their social and independent living goals and provide important psychological support.

Some of the NSW team celebrated with our very own ⭐Work Rehab RC Trivia Game!⭐ "Who matched the fun fact" was the lunch game where the team had to guess which RC matched the fact.
✅Who plays ultimate frisbee?
✅Who is the biggest die-hard Taylor Swift fan?
✅Who always has the prettiest nails?
✅Who is the best cook?
✅And who is Canadian?
❓Do you know❓
A huge thank you to all of our RCs for your dedication to our clients and the work you do🙏
