Working online is great, and I have many clients who are not based on the Sunny Coast who I have to see on Zoom. But in this time of disconnect, I'm not sure about you, but I like face to face.

We have a space in Noosaville where we can offer everything we do! And I feel so fortunate to have this space to see clients face to face.

Not only that, I have curated a selection of products I love and use on the reg. You ever walk into a health food store, thinking I need an immune booster, and you leave more confused because there are 20 different options. Well, I hope to take the guess work out of it for you. I only stock supplements that I know work and are the best quality. If I don't have exactly the right thing for you, we can have a quick chat and I can prescribe top quality practitioner brand products for you that get delivered to your door. How good is that?!?

Also, all my favourite sustainable products for home and body, in store. Mainly plastic free, all natural, no tox.

Clinical Nutritionist Jadine Hanys offers online consults to Australia and Internationally, and practices locally in Noosa QLD. With a keen interest in female hormones and gut health.

Vitamin A is a potent anti-oxidant and has many roles in the body. It is commonly referred to as retinol in skin care products and using topically if tolerated, is great. BUT not many people with sensitive skin or skin conditions can actually use retinol safely.

As with ANY and ALL skin conditions, treatment must start from within and eating vitamin A rich foods is a key aspect of skin health. Vitamin A has a role in the maintenance of epithelial tissues, bone growth and hormone synthesis, so consuming adequate quantities or supplementing, is highly indicated for many people.

If you suffer form Acne and Rosacea and are having active breakouts, STOP applying retinol to the skin and START consuming through wholefood sources such as ;
Liver
Salmon
Grassfed Butter
Grassfed meats
Egg yolks
And orange coloured fruits and vegetables with contain beta-carotene which we can convert to Vit A, although, this is not the best way to get Vit A - it is 100% animal products.

Another excellent way is to supplement with Organ supplements such as (available in the shop). I love adding these to my weekly routine as it gives me confidence that I am reaching my nutrient requirements even when food prep etc. hasn't been optimal.

Many people suffer from skin conditions. From teenage or hormonal acne, fungal skin conditions, eczema and psoriasis, and my favourites rosacea, perioral dermatitis and pityriasis versicolor. When I say my favourites, I mean, ones I have personally suffered with.

I, like many of you, have spent a lot of money on expensive skin care products. I have taken antibiotics for rosacea and I have had a dermatologist laugh in my face when I ask about diet and natural interventions. She told me that there was no research to support. DO YOU KNOW WHY THERE IS NO RESEARCH?? Because there is NO money in empowering people to treat themselves naturally or to undertake an elimination diet.

Anyone who tells you that diet and your gut has no impact on your skin is a moron. Your skin is the last organ to act as a filter for your internal environment. So, often, your skin is the final representation of an imbalance in your gut.
Every condition has a different cause;
Rosacea has been linked to SIBO
Acne to high androgen levels and possible liver insufficiency
Psoriasis is autoimmune, so treating the immune system is key...

You get the picture. Don't be disheartened when a GP or dermatologist dismisses you and simply prescribes some toxic substance. They don't know any better.

If you feel overwhelmed by modern life, you are not alone. The way society has been constructed keeps us on the not-so-merry go round of stress. Money, work, children, driving on the motorway, all stressful! Not to mention, chemical exposure, toxicity and processed foods that have been designed to keep us ill and in the 'system'. Im not about to rant about conspiracies, I just believe in nature and real foods. So do yourself a favour, read the blog - once you've read it, turn off your phone!! And do something nourishing for your nervous system. An act of self-care that you wouldn't usually do. Because my recommendation is almost always more self-care and less busy busy 🤯

Find a sport or activity you love 😍

I have practised many forms of activity in the past. Yoga to improve my flexibility. Pilates to improve core strength. Strength training to create lean muscle. But nothing, not one of these practices kept me truly wanting to keep learning. So much of my movement practice was around managing energy levels, anxiety, or body image. What I have learnt through every one of the sports and fitness activities that I have practiced throughout the years, is that I am motivated by training with friends and I get bored easily.

Jiu Jitsu is a family, endlessly supportive and always teaching and guiding while beating you up at every opportunity. I have never experienced anything like it and I love it! There is no chance of boredom as you are literally fighting for survival in every round and you are always training with friends. Caza means home in Portuguese and thats what has created at my home club . A home from home.

To say I was unsure about starting Jiu Jitsu, is an understatement. I don't enjoy touching other people at the best of times, and I certainly don't like sweaty people in my personal space, but once you get past that and, if as a woman, you have the chance to start in a supportive womens class, DO IT. Because very soon you won't care about personal space and sweat, and you will just want to roll and spar with everyone, because this s**t is addictive.

Thanks to for bullying me so much at home I had to start learning. I'll get that old man one day.

If your iron is low on your blood tests, GPs are quick to prescribe a very low grade, synthetic iron supplement or even iron infusions in extreme cases. Iron deficiency anaemia is due to low iron intake or extreme blood-loss and the overall pattern in your bloodwork needs to be assessed to be sure of the cause of low iron.

Iron works synergistically with B12, other B vitamins and Zinc. It may not be a low intake of iron (which can only be discerned through thorough case taking). It is possible that absorption is impaired due to poor stomach function and poor protein digestion seen in if we have low stomach acid or low digestive enzyme levels.

Repeated intake of synthetic iron supplements, with no visible improvement in iron levels on your bloods tests, indicates iron deficiency of chronic disease or infection. Pathogens feed on iron and so, often what can be occurring is that we are feeding disease with iron supplements rather than correcting a deficiency.

If your iron is low, do not reach for an iron supplement. Eat iron rich animal products! Supplement with organ supplements such as . And consider what else is going on. What underlying conditions or other symptoms you are experiencing and if that could be the cause of low iron, fatigue etc.

Animal products are truly some of the most nutrient dense foods we can eat. They have the highest bioavailability. We absorb nutrients from meat and animal products far easier than from plants. But the waters have been muddied.... the question of ethics and animal cruelty has overshadowed what animal products mean for our health, and they mean a lot!

Cruel farming methods and practices coupled with the processed meats and foods that many people sustain themselves from, have given an omnivorous or carnivorous diet a bad name.

👉 Essential nutrients such as B12, Zinc, Vitamin A and essential amino acids, are far more readily available from animal products 👈 B12 is almost impossible to get from a vegan diet, in the amounts required for health, so vegans supplement. Vegan protein sources are also fibre sources, meaning you get full on fibre as much as protein, making hitting adequate protein hard! And we think we can eat carrots for Vitamin A - well beta-carotene is present in carrots, which we convert to Vitamin A, which is an energy intensive process. From liver, its just Vitamin A, ready to be used!

I could go on and on but the crux of it is - hitting all the nutrition requirements for a healthy life, is very very very difficult on a vegan diet and supplementation is always recommended. If you eat high quality animal products (search out regenerative farming practices) you're actually helping the environment and nourishing yourself with wholefoods - its a no brainer for me 😬

I can and do help support vegans, vegetarians and anyone on a restrictive diet for whatever reason but, a varied diet inclusive of meats, organ meats, eggs and high quality dairy, is the healthiest (aside from allergies etc etc - which is another post altogether so don't get your knickers in a twist).

Seek out a practitioner who can read your standard blood tests.

Okay, here is a little context.
The reference ranges for all the standard blood tests are out of date.
Im talking about;

👉 Full Blood Count
👉 Iron Studies
👉 Thyroid Panel
👉 Lipids
👉 Liver Function Tests
👉 Electrolytes/ Kidney Function

The ranges used by the GP and the standard pathology labs are so broad that they constantly miss subclinical conditions, and the early signs of poor health.

When analysed correctly and correlated against each other, along with a full assessment of your symptoms, many conditions can be detected without the need for an array of expensive functional tests - or worse, your symptoms being completely disregarded as all your tests are 'within range'.

I call bulls**t on this... time and time again I see bloods all 'within range' according to the GPs, that are showing subclinical thyroid issues, gut dysbiosis, hypochlorydia and SIBO. And the GPs send you off saying its all your in head!

I love assessing bloods as a basis for treatment along with a FULL symptom analysis. I often utilise a few other tests such as gut mapping and DUTCH, BUT, there is so much we can tell from standard bloods alone - so start there.

I have said it before and I say it again, the foundations of our medical system are broken. Out of date reference ranges leading to missed diagnosis, and 10minutes with a GP who is taught to diagnose and to prescribe, not to prevent and not to listen - they do not have the time. Do not forget prescription drugs are not treatment, they are another toxin in your body you have to seek our treatment for afterwards 🤯

You may feel tired and like you can't wait till the weekend for a well-deserved rest but remember, you've never been as tired as a pit-bull who has done f**king nothing all day.

Mags taking all the cushions as usual and looking cuter than the rest of us put together 🫶
