✨ 5 years of Remarkable You OT ✨

5 years…that feels really special to say 💛

As I reflect, here are 5 things I feel proud of:

💛 1. Our team
An incredible group of humans who show up every day with care, creativity, and heart. The culture we’ve built together is something I’m really proud of.

💛 2. Our values in action
Connection, empowerment, playfulness, and care guide everything we do and I see these lived out every day, not only in how we support families, but in how our team shows up for each other.

💛 3. The families we support
The trust families place in our team is something I deeply value. Seeing the consistency, care, and thought our OTs bring to each family and session is something I’m really proud of.

💛 4. The way we’ve grown
We’ve expanded our spaces, our team, and our programs. I feel so grateful for how our team has shared their strengths and passion areas to help build and shape our programs.

💛 5. How we support our team
Being intentional about how we build and support our team matters to me! From attracting the right people, to backing them with the support, trust, and environment they need to grow.

Thank you to everyone who has been part of the journey so far 💛

💙 Meet Maddie 💙

Maddie is one of our newest Occupational Therapists, and we’re so excited to have her as part of the team!

When she’s not supporting children and families, you’ll likely find her:
🎨 Painting or getting creative
🧁 Baking something delicious (with a coffee close by ☕️)
🍫 Enjoying chocolate
🌿 Spending weekends at the park with her family

Maddie brings a playful, warm energy to everything she does, creating a fun and safe space for children to feel comfortable being themselves 💛

If you’re looking for an OT who creates a fun, supportive space for your child to grow, Maddie would love to connect. Get in touch with our team to learn more ✨

✨ Why we have RYOT Reset Days ✨

You might notice our clinics pause a few times each year…this is why 💛

To provide high quality support, we step out of sessions to learn, connect, and grow as a team.

Our RYOT Reset Days are where we:🌿 Build our clinical skills through training and learning🌿 Reflect on our work and how we can support each child even better🌿 Collaborate as a team to share ideas, strategies, and experiences🌿 Strengthen the way we work together so your child benefits from a connected team around them

We also had the opportunity to celebrate a bride-to-be, a birthday AND welcome a new OT at this week’s RYOT reset!

Alongside learning, connection is a big part of these days. When we grow, your child’s support grows too ✨

Team dinners like this are one of our favourite ways to slow down, connect, and just enjoy being together outside of the day-to-day 💛

This one was extra special as we also celebrated a couple of incredible team members as they move into their next chapter ✨

After-school restraint collapse is very real and sometimes misunderstood.

They’ve used up every bit of their emotional, sensory, and social energy just to get through school.

When they finally get home (or even in the car), the dam breaks.

Here’s what can help:

Avoid:
• Asking questions straight away
• Correcting behaviour immediately
• Starting homework or tasks
• Too much talking

What you can try:
• 10 minutes with no demands
• Small snack
• Quiet or low stimulation
• Then reconnect

Why this happens: They've been managing their emotions, following rules, sitting still. By 3pm, they're running on empty. When they melt down in the car, its their body finally feeling safe enough to let go.

Which part of after-school time catches you off guard the most? Drop it in the comments 👇

We’re hiring! 📣✨

RYOT is on the lookout for two remarkable OT’s to join our team 💛

🌈1 x OT (2026 start)🌈 1 x New Grad OT (2027 start)

We care a lot about finding the right fit, so as well as our usual SEEK ad just, I’ve jumped in front of the camera to share a little about who we are (and give you a peek behind the scenes… because honestly, this team makes coming to work pretty fun 🫶).

If you’re reading this and thinking “this feels like my kind of place” we’d love to hear from you.

Or if you know someone who’d fit right in, send this their way ✨

Many behaviours we see in children are not about “not trying.” Children often manage several demands at once: sensory input, social expectations, uncertainty, time, and performance pressure. When these stack together, the activity requires more effort.

Reducing even one demand can make the activity easier to manage!
