Following the tragic incident that took place at Bondi Beach, we extend our deepest sympathies to all of those who have been impacted.
It’s important to remember that events like this can be especially distressing, particularly in being exposed to upsetting content through news or social media. It’s understandable if you are feeling distressed or overwhelmed by what you may be hearing and seeing. Remember to talk about how you’re feeling and reach out for support if needed.
Here are some tips to take care of yourself if this period:
🟢Take breaks from the media and news. Even though you may want to stay informed, watching distressing scenes repeatedly can be overwhelming, and it’s okay to step back when it feels like too much.

🟢 Talk about how you’re feeling. There’s no ‘right’ way to react and any emotion you feel is valid. You might experience things like shock, stress, numbness, intrusive thoughts or sleep issues.
🟢 Reach out for professional support if you’re really struggling.
🟢 The advises that if you see violent, distressing or harmful material, don’t share it, and report graphic material to the platform to get it removed. If the material is not removed, or if it's seriously harmful, you can report it to the eSafety Commissioner.
