Foods are Medicine

Foods are Medicine Let's discuss food, nutrition and living a healthier life. I am a registered nutritionist and believe in the medicinal powers of a good diet.

I am also a mother of three small children and know how hard it is to prepare healthy meals everyone enjoys. I also like to have a good time and don't like missing out on fun things like wine and desert. Foods are medicine and when they are used in the right quantities and combinations can treat a huge range of conditions - fatigue, depression, inflammation, immune system deficits, hormonal imbalances, cardiovascular support, thyroid conditions, body composition, ageing, stress to name a few. In most cases, these can be treated easily through tweaking lifestyle, changing food habits and perhaps adding a supplement. This page is a place for me to post my thoughts and share information about food and lifestyle choices. I welcome conversation and hope you will post on my wall.

It's funny how in some cultures it is hard for interpreters to explain the concept of "are you allergic to any thing" when asking for medical reasons. In Western society you would be hard pressed to find someone who doesn't have an allergy to something.

IT could be the “missing link” in discovering why millions of people suffer from an increasing array of food allergies.

Nothing we do can 100% guarantee good health but lifestyle as medicine can prevent a large proportion of chronic disease. We do know how to prevent roughly 80% of all chronic disease, and we know how with a high degree of confidence. So it’s not perfect- but it is very, very good.
