Stress Vs Urge Incontinence, what’s the difference?
Stress incontinence is triggered by pressure on your bladder. For example, when you laugh, cough, sneeze or do something physical like playing sport, lifting, or jumping.
Urge incontinence is triggered by an overactive bladder. Signs of urge incontinence include ‘urges’ to go to the toilet and not making it in time.
Mixed incontinence is when someone is having symptoms of both urge and stress incontinence.
Pelvic health physiotherapy is a very effective way of helping manage and improve these symptoms of incontinence.
Some of the ways pelvic health physio can help include pelvic floor muscle strengthening, coordination and bladder retraining, urge suppression techniques and education on load management and good bladder habits.
