🌼 New Contributions for Support at Home from November 2025

From 1 November 2025, the Support at Home Program will begin, bringing new contribution rates for clients who received a Home Care Package on or after 12 September 2024. This includes full pensioners.

Here’s what you need to know:

✅ Clinical Services – 0% contribution
Services like physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and registered nurses will remain fully funded.

✅ Independence Services – 5% contribution
Personal care and support to access the community or attend appointments will require a small 5% contribution.

✅ Everyday Living Services – 17.5% contribution
Domestic assistance, lawn and garden care, support to go shopping, and unaccompanied shopping will have a 17.5% contribution.

🚨 Important Update: NDIS Support Clarification 🚨

Towards the end of 2024 the NDIS released an in and out list for NDIS supports.

We want to remind everyone that the NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme) is designed to provide support for eligible individuals with disabilities to help them with their daily needs, independence, and participation in the community. However, there are certain items and services that are not covered under the NDIS.

Here’s a list of things the NDIS will NOT provide support for:

❌ Day-to-day living costs (e.g., general household bills, rent)
❌ Accommodation & household-related costs (e.g., mortgage/rent, utilities)
❌ Food and groceries
❌ Lifestyle-related expenses (e.g., hobbies, entertainment)
❌ Clothing & beauty services
❌ Pet-related expenses (e.g., pet care, pet food)
❌ Reproductive health & family-related services
❌ Non-evidence-based treatments
❌ Alternative & complementary therapies
❌ Wellness & coaching services
❌ Energy & healing practices
❌ General health services
❌ Mental health services (except for disability-related needs)
❌ Child protection & family support
❌ Early childhood development services
❌ School education
❌ Higher education & vocational training

📢 Important Update: Changes to the Home Care Program in NSW!

Starting July 1, 2025, the Support at Home program will replace the current Home Care Packages Program and Short-Term Restorative Care (STRC) Program. This change aims to improve care options and provide more support for older people and their carers. Here are the key updates you need to know:

✅ New Assessment Tool: Beginning July 2024, a single assessment tool will be introduced to assess eligibility for all aged care programs, ensuring the right services are matched to the needs of each individual.

✅ More Support Levels: The new program will offer 8 levels of funding, with up to $78,000 per year to provide the right level of care.

✅ Restorative Care: Access to restorative care services will now be available within 12 weeks, up from the previous 8 weeks.

✅ Home Modifications: The program will provide funding for home modifications to make your living space more comfortable and accessible.

✅ End-of-Life Care: The program will also support end-of-life care at home, allowing families to provide their loved ones with care in a familiar and supportive environment.

✅ Government Support: The government will cover 89% of the Support at Home program costs, making care more affordable.

✅ New Equipment Loan Scheme: A new equipment loan scheme will provide fast access to assistive technology for those who need it.

These changes are designed to enhance the quality of care and make it easier for older people to remain in their homes while receiving the support they need.

You maybe eligible for the Taxi transport subsidy Scheme.

Find out here.

Residents of NSW who are unable to use public transport because of a severe and permanent disability may be eligible to a subsidy of 50% of a taxi fare, up to a maximum subsidy of $60.
