Today we ran two workshops with the EA team at Paraburdoo Primary school.

I chatted about all things Pathological Demand Avoidance and Vivienne (our Speechie) chatted about Early communication & language for our ECC kiddos.

I love these workshops as we can speak to real kids we all know, real everyday challenges we see, and have some great collaborative discussions.

We love working with EA's, such a crucial part of our kids support team!🤎

We are running school holiday groups these holidays!
Week 1- OT led groups
Week 2- Speech led groups

Designed to support kids with communication, regulation and everyday skills through fun, hands on sessions.

Super grateful for the team standing beside me at Thrive 🤎
Each person brings something different and together, we create spaces where children feel safe, understood, and capable.

We are always thinking outside the box and this term we are running some small therapy groups: Fun with Food, Social Detectives, and Busy Brains... moving our therapy model to meet kids where they are and what they need each term.

It’s a privilege to do this work alongside people who care so deeply about the families we support.

💫A new face has joined the Thrive Therapy team.
Welcome Vivienne, our new Speech Pathologist!

We've loved having Vivienne in Paraburdoo this week, easing into rural life, meeting families, and enjoying the calm before the school-year whirlwind begins.

She’s already building great rapport with her easygoing nature, chats about Minecraft, Avatar and K-pop, and a natural ability to roll with the flexibility that comes with rural therapy.

Vivienne is passionate about all areas of speech and brings experience across speech sounds, literacy, early and school-age language, AAC, fluency & social communication.

Vivienne will be in Paraburdoo fortnightly (Monday–Friday), so say Hi if you see her around!

I left the public system feeling constrained by systems that didn't work... and now I am having so much fun building my own!

2026 is shaping up to be a year of growth... staff, new group programs, Busy Brains launching and I'm realising I can't be the system anymore.

So I've been getting things out of my head and onto paper... onboarding, operating procedures, really practical staff resources, branded templates and backend supports so we are set up properly for the school year ahead.

More space for clinical thinking, creativity, and supporting my staff well. It feels really good!

Shout out to for supporting with brand templates & all things design & always for the 2025 investment that continues to shape me as I grow.

💫Useful information incoming💫

I made this school readiness handbook because so many parents were coming to me worried about the ''wrong'' things.

ABC's. Pencil grip. “Are they behind?”

But what actually makes the biggest difference when kids start school is how safe they feel, how they talk about emotions, and how supported they feel during everyday moments... like morning drop-offs and after-school chats.
Kids will learn all these things when their nervous system feels safe.

This information is easy to read, age-appropriate, and practical.

It’ll help you:
• change how you ask your child about their day
• talk about feelings in a way that makes sense to kids
• take some of the stress out of mornings

No pressure. No perfect parenting (that's definitely not me!).
Just information that’s genuinely useful.

**Also helpful information for any age child that finds transitions to & from school tricky!

This wasn’t about confidence.
And it wasn’t “just personality.”

A foam party is huge sensory input...
touch, movement, noise, unpredictability.

One nervous system jumps straight in to regulate.
One needs time to watch, process, and feel safe first.

Same activity.
Different sensory processing speeds.

When we understand this, we stop rushing, pushing or comparing…
and start supporting how their brain and body work together.

That’s what we teach in Busy Brains 🧠
Different brains need different things— and understanding that changes everything.
