We often get asked: What’s the difference between NDIA-managed, self-managed, and plan-managed?

✔️ NDIA-managed – The government controls your funding and pays providers directly.
✔️ Self-managed – You handle everything, including paying invoices and managing budgets.
✔️ Plan-managed (by DANJO 😉) – We take care of the finances while you stay in control of your choices!

The Most Confusing Parts of Managing Your NDIS Budget

Managing an NDIS budget can be tricky, and we know there are some parts that often cause confusion:

Understanding Funding Categories: Knowing which funds can be used for what can feel like navigating a maze. Core, Capacity Building, and Capital each have specific uses.

Balancing Flexibility with Rules: While some funds are flexible, others are not. It’s important to know when you can move money around and when you can’t.

Keeping Track of Spending: Staying on top of invoices, receipts, and spending can be overwhelming, especially if you’re juggling multiple services.

Knowing What’s “Reasonable and Necessary”: It’s not always clear what the NDIS considers "reasonable and necessary." This can make it hard to know if a support or service will be covered.

Dealing with Changes in Needs: If your situation changes, your budget might need to change too. Knowing when and how to request a plan review can be confusing.

At DANJO Plan Management, we take the guesswork out of managing your NDIS budget. Let us handle the hard stuff so you can focus on what matters most—living your life to the fullest!

🚨 Important NDIS Update for Plan Management! 🚨

Recent changes to the NDIS Act include significant updates that will impact how your NDIS plan is managed and what you can claim:

Stricter Guidelines on Claimable Supports: The NDIA has introduced tighter rules around what can be claimed under your NDIS plan. Only supports that clearly align with your goals and fall within the NDIS's guidelines are now claimable. It's important to review your plan to ensure all your supports meet these stricter criteria.

Plan Management Adjustments: The NDIA now has the authority to change how your plan is managed if there are concerns about the appropriate use of your funds. This might mean altering your plan management type to ensure your NDIS funds are used correctly and effectively.

Total Funding Amounts & Periods: New plans will specify total funding amounts and set periods within which these funds must be spent. This change helps you manage your budget more effectively and avoid issues with unspent or overspent funds.
Support Substitution Flexibility: If a support that isn’t typically funded by the NDIS is better suited to your needs, you can now apply to substitute it with a fundable support. This change provides greater flexibility in customising your plan.

Enhanced Claims & Payments Process: A new legislative framework has been introduced to streamline the claims and payments process. All claims must now be submitted within two years, making it more important than ever to keep track of your spending.

These changes are designed to enhance the integrity of the NDIS and ensure that your plan aligns with your specific support needs. These changes will not happen immediately but gradually over the next few months. If you have any questions about how these updates might affect your plan, DANJO Plan Management is here to help guide you through the changes! 💬

Understanding Stroke with DANJO Plan Management

At DANJO Plan Management, we're committed to raising awareness and offering support. Today, let's highlight stroke to better understand this critical medical condition.

So, what is a stroke? A stroke occurs when the blood supply to part of the brain is interrupted or reduced, preventing brain tissue from getting the oxygen and nutrients it needs. Brain cells begin to die in minutes, making it a medical emergency.

Here's what you should know:
1️⃣ Types of Stroke: There are two main types of stroke - ischemic (caused by a blockage in an artery) and hemorrhagic (caused by a blood vessel bursting in the brain). A transient ischemic attack (TIA), or mini-stroke, is a temporary period of symptoms similar to those of a stroke.
2️⃣ Recognizing Symptoms: Common symptoms include sudden numbness or weakness in the face, arm, or leg, especially on one side of the body; confusion, trouble speaking, or understanding speech; vision problems in one or both eyes; difficulty walking; dizziness; and severe headache with no known cause.
3️⃣ Impact on Daily Life: Stroke can lead to significant long-term disabilities, affecting speech, movement, and cognition. Rehabilitation and support are crucial for recovery and maintaining quality of life.
4️⃣ Holistic Support: Providing comprehensive care involves medical treatment, physical and occupational therapy, emotional support, and resources for stroke survivors and their caregivers.

At DANJO Plan Management, we stand in solidarity with stroke survivors and their families. Let's raise awareness, offer support, and work together towards a world where stroke can be prevented and managed effectively. 💙🌟
