I’m back in Bali for my 3rd yoga retreat. This time I took a gamble and came along to be guided by the lovely Mary, Chris & Katie, 3 beautiful souls who live and teach in the gorgeous Jervis Bay Area of NSW, south of Sydney. It has been a wonderful week of connections, space, movement, experiences, delicious nourishing food, massages, love & laughter with a wonderful community of people who’ve welcomed me (& my roomie, Amy) with open arms.
I’ve loved the classes they’ve taught and the experiences they’ve guided us through & am so grateful for the opportunity and serendipitous nature of the universe that led me to be here now.
To my mountains and plains friends, if you’re ever on holidays in Callala, Huski, Vincentia or any other beautiful towns in the Jervis Bay Area, get yourself along to one of marybaseleryoga classes.

Just having a brilliant time here in Bali. The Balinese people are so smiley and lovely, the food, drink and company is wonderful and of course the yoga is just what my body needs.

Today we visited a gorgeous sacred water temple where we went from one outlet to the next, stopping to say a prayer of gratitude at each for different aspects in our lives, speaking from the heart. It was something special, having the water wash over my face & head, down my back, that feeling of peace, cleansing & also gratitude filling my heart. Powerful stuff ☺️

Strongly recommend a visit if you’re in Bali.

It’s been a long time since I posted here. Life in Singapore has evolved into its own routines and flows and my yoga practice has waned over the past 15 months, in the busyness of life but I’ve taken time out from all that to fill my cup this week. I’m taking a much longed for and needed yoga retreat in Ubud, Bali, a place I’ve never been.

Under the guidance and friendship of my beautiful teacher from Emu Plains, Jolan, we’ve come together to practice yoga twice a day, explore, eat & drink, relax, restore & rejuvenate.
I’ve never traveled on my own or been away from my children for a week before, so this was a big step for me!

So far so good…. A week of adventures to come!

Happy international dog day!
What a week it’s been! This time last week we did a whirlwind weekend trip to Sydney for my little sister, Charlotte’s wedding to her wonderful man, Dan. It was a chilly but beautiful day! I’d forgotten how bitterly cold that wind can be!! 28-33 degrees everyday has made me soft 😆😊 it was fun to get dressed up and put in an effort to spruce up.
I hope everyone manages to at least do a downward dog in honour of todays dog day!

Wow! One year ago, my daughter Eliza & I filmed an Olympics themed kids yoga class to stream on the NSW Department of Education’s page during term 3’s lockdown to give kids activities to try and keep active while home learning. It was re-shared in September 2021 school holidays too and has been viewed over 20000 times!
We were given about 36 hours notice to film, edit & send the clip, all filmed in our lounge room at home. I’m thrilled that people found it enjoyable and have used it in their classrooms since then. I have always loved teaching kids the valuable skills and tools of yoga.

Hey 👋 I hope you’re well.
I just returned to Singapore 🇸🇬 from 2 wonderful weeks hanging out with family and friends in Sydney 🇦🇺. It was so nice to experience cool winter temperatures and wrap myself up in a scarf! I got in as many catch ups as I could, though I did also manage to pick up a lingering sore throat and cold, which I’m thankful is not covid. I also popped in to attend a class with one of my mentors and a wonderful teacher, Jolan at Om Yoga ! It was great to touch base with my home and fill my cup!
Now, please excuse me if I just practice savasana for awhile, I’m exhausted 🥱
Remember to listen to your body and give it what it’s asking for. 😊🙏

Ahhhh….. that was a much more pleasant experience ☺️
This week I signed up for a yoga class at the East Coast Park here in Singapore. This class appealed to me as its run through an organisation called Yoga for a Change. This is a not for profit class, where the teachers volunteer their time and all costs go towards a charity until the target of $10 000 is reached! How good is that?! At the moment the highlighted charity is Aidha, who aims to help migrant workers become more financially literate & independent.
This class was fantastic!!!
Our practice was led by Satori. She started the practice through grounding and gave a drop of oil on my open palm to rub between my hands and inhale deeply before guiding us through sun salutations, warriors and more, not once pulling or pushing my body in ways that didn’t feel good, nor did she mention toning the muscles or losing weight, like the teacher from the previous experience I had here.
It was hot yoga without even trying 😅 but the gentle breeze was bliss across my sweaty skin and thankfully the cloud cover remained.
I’m so glad I’ve found a practice that meshes with my own, a tribe of people who are similar to me and who knows, maybe even a practice I can lead at some stage!!
☺️ my happy place.

I went to a yoga class on the upper deck common area of our apartment this morning. It felt good to be gathering with others in the mat.

The class was very different to any others I’ve taken. Not the poses, but the way they were delivered. The teacher was very hands on in her approach, making adjustments to push me further into each pose. Extension of my spine deeper than I’ve gone on my own.

It brought up interesting thoughts during the class, made me question the manner in which I deliver the classes I teach, or rather, taught.

I realised more than ever that there is no ‘right way’ or ‘one size fits all’ approach. Sometimes it’ll feel right and other times it won’t.

I’m going to continue my search for a local studio or class with a teacher that I can connect with, that shares an approach I’m comfortable with.

I’m missing my communities back home and hope you’re all doing well with changes you come across.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mums of kids, plants, fur kids and anything else in between, as well as those mums who’ve lost a child or their mum.

I was spoilt with presents and love by my kids this morning, then we had FaceTime calls to my own wonderful mum and mother in law, followed by a mid morning swim and a walk through the park to East Coast Commune, where we had dessert for lunch!

I hope all my lovely yoga ladies have been looked after by your families, especially today!

Happy Easter from Singapore!

We’ve spent these past few days settling in, unpacking and getting to know our local area. I’m yet to get out and explore the local studios, but this will come with time.
We’ve taken our beautiful boy for a few walks through the east coast park and I’ve circled our apartment as seen from the park.
So far, so good…..

With Blaxland’s Crossing bridge at Wallacia predicted to close possibly this evening due to the heavy rain today, I’ll be sad to miss my ladies who live out at Warragamba and Silverdale, but please don’t come to class if it’s safer for you to stay on the other side of the bridge.

I’ll use this opportunity to say thank you to all my beautiful Wallacia ladies! Thank you for your support and encouragement that I’ve felt over these past few years, for the friendships that have developed along the way and the love of yoga and joy felt through practicing together.

I’ll miss my beautiful communities so much! I hope we can stay connected through this amazing platform and technology.
😊🙏✌️🫶🧘‍♀️
