๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐โฆ So, this is a loooong one but is worth a read for anyone interested in joining EPIC community events happening in Perth designed exclusively for people living with Disability ๐ฅณUnfortunately, we sometimes receive some not so nice feedback on Facebook from people in our community that do not fully understand how our events operate or are possible when we invoice participants through the NDIS โน And yes, on face value these concerns are valid and ABSOLUTELY correct, the NDIS cannot and should not be used to pay for Dune Buggies, Fishing Charters, Ice Skating, enjoying a nice meal in a Restaurant or most of the EPIC things we provide on our Happy Dayz Events.
To this, we just kindly ask, that instead of trying to actively bring down a company, a company run by a team of deadest Legends who are truly out there just trying to bring a little bit of Happiness to those living with Disability, you take a short moment to understand how we have managed, through much hard work, dedication and cost to us to make these experiences possible for those who need it most ๐
We wish to clear the air and give confidence that The Happiness Crew operates with a very transparent and simple pricing structure to ensure we are always upholding the integrity of the NDIS system and adhering to the NDIS Code of Conduct, policies and rules.
To explain simply, we do not charge for our activities, we only charge our participants for the actual support they require based on their individual needs through their NDIS funding which allows and encourages participation in community events as there is clear evidence supporting the amazing benefits this can provide an individualโฆ For example, if a participant requires a dedicated 1 to 1 support worker for 4 hours whilst they are on one of our Adventures, they are only charged 4 hours support as per the NDIS Pricing Arrangements.
We do not charge a cent more to participate in our Happy Dayz activities, they are completely free of charge.
But HOW!!!!!!
We founded The Happiness Crew because we had a DREAM to revolutionise the Disability industry. We didnโt want to just provide the same old boring support week in week out or run the same boooooring events catered for those living with Disability ๐ We didnโt want someoneโs day out to be limited to visiting a food court at a shopping center or watching the grass grow (not that there is an issue with this, if it is your thing). It just is not ours ๐ We wanted to do something more and offer something not available anywhere else. We believed that we could do better and we wanted to change the definition of โCommunity Accessโ So with this in mind we set off with an idea to create experiences that are fun and exciting, that are social, where people can get out of the house, try new things not thought possible, make friends, build networks and relationships and just have a day of HAPPINESS as sometimes that truly is the best medicine you can get!
Fast forward a few years and the harsh reality of the situation came crashing down, we found most people could not afford to do these types of activities day in day out and Yes the NDIS is not there to be used for โHappinessโ (Now if we agree with this or not is beside the point aha ๐)
So at this point, it looked like our dream, whilst a noble one was simply that, a dream โน
But instead of giving up we looked outside the box. Surely there was a way to provide the highest quality day-to-day support that our participants needed to facilitate their independence and live their best lives. Whilst offering the opportunity to engage in EPIC social activities, have new experiences and create a community that meet together on a regular basis to foster relationships, make friends and create lasting memories.
So, we wish to divulge all of our secrets and how we managed to finally achieve our dream, it was actually quite easy in the end, we just went out to the community and asked ๐
To put it simply our events are sponsored by the Directors of The Happiness Crew personally and many others in our local community.
If we go to a Restaurant, chances are the owner has given us a discount.
If we go on a Fishing Charter, chances are the owner of the boat has provided it to us free of charge.
Our fishing tackle is sponsored by BCF.
If we hold a BBQ, chances are the local Butcher gave us the snags.
Turns out there are many, MANY beautiful people in Perth that are more than happy to assist in making our dream a reality and they do it from the kindness of their hearts and ask for nothing in return.
We have a dedicated Events Manager who organizes and runs all these amazing activities and if you are a part of our Crew you would know Sofia, she unfortunately does not work for free but we do pay her in Chocolate๐
The insurances and risk management for running these events are not small but we as a business do not even think twice, we believe in Living To Give Back.
For all other costs that are not supported by local businesses, we have formed a group of private philanthropists that sponsor each event and make it all possible, and they do all of this wishing to remain anonymous.
So thatโs it, that is how the magic happens and how we are able to provide these events free of charge to our participants.
And because of all of you making this a reality by joining our Happiness Crew Family, we are excited to announce that shortly our events are going to start being offered EVERY DAY OF THE WEEK!!
We know that NDIS budgets are tightening and itโs not possible for everyone to afford supports on the weekend when most of our events are run. So, by introducing smaller weekday activities we hope to allow more people to engage and more people to get out socialise and enjoy the benefits of engaging in their community.
These weekday events will run slightly differently to our WHAM BAM weekend events, they will be budget conscious, shorter in length and allow other support workers to bring their clients so no one misses out even if you are not part of our Happiness Crew Family.
