I will be here all day at the Dogs West Open Day 2023

Today we are at the Dogs West Open Day in Southern River. Come down and say Hi!

Dash will be here all day for pats and cuddles. We will also be joined by the gorgeous Bear and stunning Eddie. Gates open at 10am.

Aren't visual schedules fantastic!

I like having choice within my choices, so I get to choose which self-care board I do for step 1, which way I go through my block maze for step 2, how many treats I get off the rock climbing wall for step 3 and no choice needed for Step 4, I love tunnels!

Any dog lovers available to help with puppy raising? 🐾

WAAT Dogs are looking for Puppy Raisers. These are the most amazing people who help take care of the dogs in training. Our amazing puppy raisers actively engage in training sessions, raise the puppies in their home until they are ready to be placed.

Can You?
- Follow positive dog training methods?
- Be home most of the day?
- Attending different environments to assist with socialisation?

Do You?
- Have a secure, dog friendly garden?
- Have the time and stamina to manage an active puppy?
- Have the ability to travel to attend training as required?

WAAT Dogs will arrange for food and equipment for the puppy whilst it is in your care, as well as giving you regular support and advice throughout the journey.We will be having a number of puppies join us in 2023. In the coming months we will be holding training sessions for our puppy raisers.

Happy Birthday to my therapy animal partners!

Happy horses birthday! Horses are an important member of the animal-assisted services sector. The horse is a large animal and equine-assisted services participants need to find a nonverbal way of communicating with the horse in order to establish a relationship. As a fight, flight animal, horses communicate primarily through body language that enables them to respond to humans’ emotions and behaviours. As such, the horse may respond to stimuli that may go unnoticed by humans. These qualities are invaluable as a natural teaching aid since participants can identify with the horses’ instinct to seek safety and security, which can act as a metaphor that may help participants learn confidence, self-efficacy, and trust.

To follow or not to follow?

Service dogs are very well trained and will often seek assistance if their handler requires it. So if you see a service dog unattended, follow them!

Tips like this could help save someone’s life.
