Mt Hawthorn Breathe Awareness
Mon 9 March 2026 7.30pm
Come breath with me!
Did you know that how you breathe determines how you feel?
Welcome to my softer approach. We use slow, rhythmic patterns to gently signal to your brain that it is safe to relax. Itâs like a massage for your nervous system from the inside out.
If youâve tried meditation but your mind wonât stop racing, or if "intense" breathwork feels a bit too muchâthis is for you.
Why Gentle Breathwork?
* Low Impact: Perfect for beginners and sensitive systems.
* Emotional Release: Process stress without feeling overwhelmed.
* Physical Relief: Soften tension in the jaw, neck, and shoulders.
The simplest way to heal your nervous system is Breath Awareness.
By slowing down the breath, we activate the Vagus Nerve, switching your body from "Survival Mode" to "Healing Mode."
Breath Awareness offers a powerful bridge between the mind and body, providing immediate physiological and psychological benefits by shifting the nervous system from a "fight-or-flight" state to a "rest-and-digest" mode.
By consciously observing the rhythm of the inhalation and exhalation, you stimulate the vagus nerve, which lowers your heart rate, reduces blood pressure, and decreases levels of the stress hormone cortisol.
Breath Awareness brings your attention away from ruminative thoughts about the past or future and grounding you in the present moment, which significantly enhances mental clarity and emotional regulation.
Over time, regular breath awareness strengthens the prefrontal cortexâthe area of the brain responsible for focus and decision-makingâleading to improved concentration, better sleep quality, and a more resilient response to daily stressors.
