Our practice is committed to excellence in General Practice. We are a private billing practice.

We bulk bill patients under the age of 16 years and over 65 years with a Centrelink Concession card
(SUBJECT TO CHANGE WITHOUT NOTICE)

Our team received the top honour from the Australian General Practice Accreditation Limited (AGPAL), a leading provider in accreditation services. AGPAL Chair Dr Richard Choong said the accreditation award shows that the practice makes a significant investment in quality on a day-to-day basis from the top down. Walter Road East General Practitioners proudly displays the AGPAL logo for all their patients to see. We have cultivated close working and professional relationships with our neighbours Bayswater Physiotherapy, Amcal Pharmacy, Western Diagnostics Pathology, Empowered Eats, Amplifon audiology and Bayswater Allied Health. This enables us to coordinate comprehensive multi-disciplinary team care. Amongst our over 4000 patients there are up to four generations of local families and workers from Bayswater and surrounding areas. We are honoured to be a part of this local community and serve it in the way that we do.

Due to the number of callers frequently asking if Dial A Doctor Bulk Bills and if there is a Gap payment, Dial A Doctor would like to take this opportunity to provide some clarity on what bulk billing means. Bulk billing refers to anyone who has a valid Medicare or DVA card when a Medical Deputising Service (Dial A Doctor) provides after-hours primary health care to patients at their home on behalf of their regular GP, then your consult is billed directly to Medicare and no out of pocket cash is collected or asked for by Dial A Doctor staff, however you will need to provide evidence of your Medicare or DVA card to one of our friendly Dial A Doctor team. It is voluntary and free to register in MyMedicare.

When you register in MyMedicare, it will notify your general practice that you have chosen them as your regular care team. Additional funding will be available from the government to help them provide the care you need.

MyMedicare patients will have access to:

greater continuity of care with your registered practice, improving health outcomes

longer Medicare Benefit Scheme (MBS) funded telehealth consultations with your GP

longer MBS telehealth consultations for children under 16, pensioners, and concession card holders, from 1 November 2023

more regular visits from your GP and better care planning for people living in a residential aged care home, from August 2024

connections to more appropriate care in general practice for people who visit hospital frequently, from mid-2024.

If you choose not to register in MyMedicare, you’ll still be able to access the same quality of care from your healthcare providers.

Our Story

Our surgery first opened it's doors in 1987 and since then has grown to include 4 permanent doctors and several GP registrars, 2 practice nurses, and a visiting psychologist, as well as our great team of administrative staff. We provide all aspects of general practice, including family medicine, aged care and chronic disease management, immunisation and travel medicine, skin cancer checks, women's health (including Mirena), minor surgery and cosmetic injectables. We also manage motor vehicle and worker's compensation claims. We have close working relationships with our pharmacy and physiotherapy neighbours, and endeavour to provide comprehensive and holistic medical care. We are a mixed billing practice and offer bulk billing to our patients who have a current health care card, and to babies and school aged children. We are open Monday to Saturday, however please note we do not offer a bulk-billing practice on Saturdays.
