Reignite Chiropractic

Reignite Chiropractic Offering excellent healthcare for the community of Cockburn Central, Beeliar, Jandakot, Treeby, Atwell and surrounding suburbs.

Dedicated in reigniting and restoring your body’s potential. Delivering more than just an adjustment. Chiropractors locate, analyse and treat disorders involving muscles and joints in our body, particularly around the spine. We deliver gentle forms of adjustments to help muscles, joints and the nervous system work better and as one! When we specifically work on the spine we are also working on the

nervous system which is made up of our brain, spinal cord, and all of our nerves that exit the spine. These nerves actually control everything in the body such as our muscles, heart, lungs and digestive system. So our patients under chiropractic care not only experience less pain and better movement but also have better overall function! This enables our patient’s to deal with the stresses of day-to-day life and to also do the things they once struggled to do. Whether you suffer from chronic pain, have been injured in an accident or simply want to reach your full health potential, you will be amazed how chiropractic can improve you and your family's’ quality of life.

Good posture at your desk helps reduce strain on your neck, shoulders, and lower back and can prevent long-term musculoskeletal issues. Here’s the ideal ergonomic posture setup:

🪑 CHAIR SETUP

Feet flat on the floor (or on a footrest). Knees at 90 degrees, level with or slightly lower than your hips. Hips pushed to the back of the chair. Back supported, especially the lower back (use a lumbar cushion if needed). Shoulders relaxed, not hunched or elevated.

🖥️ MONITOR SETUP

Middle of the monitor at eye level. Screen about an arm’s length away. Monitor directly in front of you, not off to the side. If you use dual screens, try having your main screen in the centre. Use a laptop stand or external monitor if you’re on a laptop.

⌨️ KEYBOARD & MOUSE

Forearms parallel to the floor. Elbows at 90 degrees, close to your sides. Wrists straight and relaxed, not bent up/down or sideways. Use a wrist pad if needed to avoid strain. Tuck yourself in as close to the desk as possible. Bring both your keyboard and mouse as close to you as possible.

🔁 MOVEMENT

Stand up every 20-30 minutes. Do simple stretching or mobility exercises throughout the day. Consider a sit-stand desk.

🧘‍♀️ TIPS:

✅ Engage your core slightly when sitting
✅ Avoid sitting on your wallet or crossing your legs
✅ Use a headset or speakerphone to avoid neck strain during calls

Acupuncture and dry needling both involve inserting thin needles into the body, but they differ in origin, theory, purpose, and practice! Here’s a breakdown of the key differences.

🔹 1. ORIGIN & PHILOSOPHY:

Acupuncture 👉 Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), developed over 2,000 years ago. Based on energy flow (Qi) and meridians. Focuses on restoring balance and improving overall well-being.

Dry Needling 👉 Western medicine approach, developed in the 20th century.
Based on anatomy and neurophysiology.
Targets myofascial trigger points and muscle tightness.

🔹 2. PURPOSE & GOALS:

Acupuncture 👉 Treats a wide range of conditions (pain, stress, insomnia, digestive issues). Aims to rebalance Qi, stimulate healing, and promote relaxation.

Dry Needling 👉 Primarily used to treat musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction. Aims to release trigger points, reduce muscle tension, and restore mobility.

🔹 3. TECHNIQUE:

Acupuncture 👉 Needles are often left in place for 15–30 minutes. Needle insertion is often more superficial and strategic based on meridian lines.

Dry Needling 👉 Needles may be inserted deeper into muscle tissue. May be rapidly inserted and withdrawn to elicit a twitch response releasing tight muscles.

💥 Myth 1: Chiropractors aren’t real doctors

Truth: Chiropractors hold a Doctor of Chiropractic degree. We complete 5 years at university studying anatomy, physiology, neurology, and radiology). We must pass national board exams to be licensed and registered with AHPRA.

🦴 Myth 2: Chiropractic adjustments are dangerous

Truth: For most people, spinal adjustments are low risk when performed by a licensed Chiropractor. Risks (like stroke or nerve injury) are extremely rare — far lower than the risks of surgery or long-term medication use.

💀 Myth 3: Once you start, you have to go forever

Truth: Chiropractic care is not addictive and you are never forced to keep going. Many people choose regular visits for injury prevention or the many other health benefits it provides. You don’t expect your muscles to stay big if you don’t keep up going to the gym right!?!

🤕 Myth 4: Chiropractors only treat spinal pain

Truth: Chiropractors treat a wide range of conditions other than spinal pain such as, headaches, jaw pain, shoulder pain and foot pain

🔧 Myth 5: Chiropractors “crack” bones

Truth: The sound you hear is not bones cracking — it’s gas releasing from joint spaces! 💥

It’s our most common misconception!

Chiropractic is much more than just cracking or popping joints. It’s a whole approach to improving how your body moves, functions, and heals—especially through the spine and nervous system. Chiropractors use a variety of techniques to reduce pain, restore mobility, and support overall health.

1. It’s About the Nervous System, Not Just the Bones:
- Chiropractors focus on how the spine affects nerve function.
- Misalignments can disrupt communication between the brain and body.
- Adjustments help restore neurological balance.

2. Adjustments Are One Tool of Many - we also use:
- Muscle release techniques
- Rehabilitative exercises
- Postural correction
- Lifestyle and nutrition coaching
- Mobility and ergonomic advice

3. Adjustments Aren’t Just Random Cracks:
- Each adjustment is precise and specific to the joint and the patient’s needs.
- The “crack” is just gas being released from the joint (like cracking your knuckles).
- The goal is to restore function, not make noise.

Saying chiropractic is just cracking your back is like saying a mechanic only bangs on your car with a wrench. That might be one part of what we do, but our real goal is to figure out what’s not working, fix it properly, and keep everything running smoothly ✨

Chiropractic is a form of healthcare that focuses on diagnosing, treating, and preventing disorders of the musculoskeletal system, especially the spine. Our core belief is that proper alignment of the body’s structure—particularly the spine—can allow the body heal itself without relying on drugs or surgery ✨

🔍 Key Concepts of Chiropractic:

🦴 1. Spinal Alignment
The spine houses and protects the spinal cord.
Misalignments can interfere with nerve signals between the brain and body.
Chiropractors use hands-on techniques to correct these misalignments.

🤲 2. Manual Adjustments
Chiropractors apply controlled force to joints that are not moving properly.
This can reduce pain, increase mobility, and improve overall function.
You might hear a “pop” or “crack” (that’s just gas releasing from the joint).

🧠 3. Holistic Approach
Chiropractic care often includes advice on:
• Posture
• Ergonomics
• Exercise
• Nutrition
• Lifestyle changes

👩‍⚕️ What Chiropractors Commonly Treat:
- Back and neck pain
- Headaches and migraines
- Jaw pain
- Sciatica
- Joint pain
- Muscle tension and stiffness
- Poor posture
