You may have noticed a few changes lately…

In recent weeks, we’ve farewelled a few much-loved doctors as they move into new chapters of their careers. While it’s always sad to see familiar faces go, we’re incredibly grateful for their contributions to the Mead community.

At the same time, we’re looking ahead with optimism and growth.

With our brand-new Maida Vale clinic set to open in August, we’re expanding our team — not only to ensure continuity of care, but also to offer more appointments and improved access for our patients.

Over the coming months, we’ll be reintroducing some of the fantastic GPs already working with us — many of whom have been quietly providing outstanding clinical care behind the scenes — as well as introducing some wonderful new doctors who will be joining the Mead Medical team.

Thank you for your ongoing support and trust. We’re proud to continue growing alongside our community.

Exciting News – We're Moving Soon!

Our Forrestfield clinic will be relocating to a brand-new site in Maida Vale – but not until August!

Future location: Unit 6, 31 Maida Vale Road, Maida Vale (right next to IGA)
Building works are currently underway as we get everything ready behind the scenes.

The new space will offer more parking, improved accessibility and extra room to welcome new doctors to the team.

We’re looking forward to opening the doors in the coming months – stay tuned for updates!

👋 Farewell for now, Dr Yan Peng

We want to let our lovely patients know that Dr Yan Peng will be finishing up at Mead Medical on Friday 20th June, as she heads off on some prearranged leave.

Dr Peng has been part of the Mead family for a while now—starting with us as a registrar and electing to stay on after completing her fellowship. In that time, she’s become a much-loved and respected part of the team, known for her gentle nature, clinical expertise, and dedication to her patients.

She’s passionate about women’s health, mental health, chronic disease management and minor procedures—plus, she’s always gone the extra mile to provide holistic, thoughtful care.

We’ll miss her, but we’re so grateful for the time she’s spent with us and the care she’s provided to so many in our community. 💙

If you usually see Dr Peng and have questions about your ongoing care, please contact our reception team to help arrange things.

All the best for your next chapter, Dr Peng!

Dr Denis Carragher is Retiring from Mead Medical

After many years of dedicated service, Dr Denis Carragher will be retiring from his role at Mead Medical, with his last working day being 18 June 2025.
While he is stepping away from general practice, Dr Carragher will continue to pursue one of his professional passions — providing healthcare to residents in aged care facilities.

His transition will allow him to focus more deeply on this meaningful area of care, supporting some of the most vulnerable members of our community.
Following his final day at Mead, Dr Carragher will be taking some well-earned leave and heading off on a safari adventure with his wife.

Dr Carragher has been an integral part of the Mead Medical team and the wider Perth Hills community for over 15 years. With more than 35 years of experience in Australia, he is highly regarded for his expertise in skin cancer management, minor surgery, and procedural work.

He co-founded the Kalamunda Skin Clinic and has performed complex procedures including skin cancer removals at Swan Districts Hospital.
A passionate educator, Dr Carragher has also contributed extensively to medical training through the University of Western Australia's Clinical Training & Evaluation Centre (CTEC), where he co-convened "Cutting Edge" workshops to upskill GPs and nurse practitioners. In recognition of his contributions, he received CTEC’s Distinguished Service Award in March 2025.

Patients of Dr Carragher are warmly encouraged to continue their care with any of the other exceptional GPs at Mead Medical, who will have full access to his clinical notes to ensure a smooth and seamless transition.
Please join us in thanking Dr Carragher for his remarkable service, and in wishing him all the very best for his next chapter.

👶 RSV Infant Immunisation – Protect your baby this winter

RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus) can cause serious illness in babies, especially during their first winter. The National RSV Mother and Infant Protection Program offers free RSV immunisation for eligible infants — and it’s now available through Mead Medical.

💉 Who is eligible?
• Newborns: If mum did not receive the RSV vaccine during pregnancy (between 28–36 weeks), baby may be eligible.
• Older infants: Babies entering their first winter without RSV protection may also be eligible under the catch-up program.

📍 For WA families:
Infants born on or after 1 October 2024 may be eligible for free RSV catch-up immunisation.

🏥 Mead Medical can provide RSV immunisation through our nurse and GP team. If you’re unsure whether your child is eligible, our doctors and nurses are here to help.

📞 Please contact our reception team on 08 9293 4455 and ask for more information from our nurses to confirm your child’s eligibility.

Let’s work together to keep our little ones safe this winter
