Today, March 8th we celebrate International Women's day.
Although today is a day to recognise and celebrate women in the social, cultural, economic and political achievements. It is important to look after womens health so they can continue to excel in these areas and all aspects of their lives. Unfortunately less than 50 percent of women aged 18-64 are achieving the exercise goal of 150 mins per week and less than 1 in 4 women are completing strength training at least twice a week. Meditation allows us the chance to step away from the thinking mind and instead focus on the breath, rather than our thoughts and emotions. This anchors us to the present moment and calms the mind. There are many styles of meditation and many ways to practice it, they vary from walking, yoga, mindfullness and many more.
Meditation doesnt have to take up all your spare time. You can do as little as 3-5 mins to gain a benefit and decrease your stress or anxiety.
For many a guided meditation is the best way to practice meditation. We love and highly recommend downloading the Head space app, there is a free version where you can complete 5 minute mediatations daily. We have attached the link below in the comments so you can trial out their beginner meditation on the website. Otherwise there are many free guided meditations online. Just find the style that Suits you - whether that be quiet sittin, laying down, yoga or walkin g meditation!!!!

Exercise is important not only for your physical health but also for your mental health. It has been shown that exercise can reduce symptoms of depression, anxiety and ADHD.
Exercise that increases your heart rate aids in the release of seretonin or your "feel good" chemicals as well as norepinephrine which helps your body manage stress more effectively.
If you would like some guidance with how to implement exercise into your life to help your overall health and wellbeing, please reach out to us.
