You may have noticed a few changes lately…

In recent weeks, we’ve farewelled a few much-loved doctors as they move into new chapters of their careers. While it’s always sad to see familiar faces go, we’re incredibly grateful for their contributions to the Mead community.

At the same time, we’re looking ahead with optimism and growth.

With our brand-new Maida Vale clinic set to open in August, we’re expanding our team — not only to ensure continuity of care, but also to offer more appointments and improved access for our patients.

Over the coming months, we’ll be reintroducing some of the fantastic GPs already working with us — many of whom have been quietly providing outstanding clinical care behind the scenes — as well as introducing some wonderful new doctors who will be joining the Mead Medical team.

Thank you for your ongoing support and trust. We’re proud to continue growing alongside our community.

GUARANTEED TO GIVE YOU A HEALTHY
HEART AND BEAUTIFUL SMILE

Here are few things that you can do and few things that we can do at Mead Medical to assist for a healthy heart and healthy smile

Taking responsibility for your heart health involves making lifestyle choices and seeking medical care to prevent or manage heart disease. Key aspects include regular physical activity, a heart-healthy diet, managing stress, and quitting smoking if you are a smoker. Additionally, understanding and controlling cholesterol, blood pressure, and blood sugar levels is crucial.

Here's a more detailed look:

1. Lifestyle Changes:
Physical Activity: Aim for at least 30 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise most days of the week. Examples include brisk walking, swimming, cycling, or playing tennis.

Healthy Diet: Focus on a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats. Limit saturated and trans fats, sodium, and sugar intake.

Stress Management: Find healthy ways to manage stress, such as exercise, mindfulness, or spending time in nature.
Quit Smoking: If you smoke, quitting is one of the most important things you can do for your heart health.

Limit Alcohol: If you drink alcohol, do so in moderation.

Maintain a Healthy Weight: Losing weight if you are overweight can significantly improve your heart health.

Get Enough Sleep: Aim for 7-9 hours of quality sleep per night.

2. Regular Medical Check-ups:

Blood Pressure and Cholesterol Checks: Get your blood pressure and cholesterol levels checked regularly.

Diabetes Screening: If you have risk factors for diabetes, get screened regularly.

Discuss Medications: Talk to your doctor about any medications you may be taking to manage heart conditions.

3. Understanding Risk Factors:

Family History: Be aware of your family history of heart disease.

Other Health Conditions: If you have other health conditions like diabetes or high blood pressure, work with your doctor to manage them effectively

Clinical guidelines recommend that doctors offer women both Genetic Carrier Screening and screening for Down syndrome during their pregnancy journeys.

Routine, bulk-billed Genetic Carrier Screening is a simple blood test for parental genetic carrier status of cystic fibrosis, spinal muscular atrophy, and fragile X syndrome, ideally performed before conception for greater reproductive choice.

Harmony NIPT analyses fragments of the baby’s DNA in the mother’s blood to assess the risk of Down syndrome and other common chromosomal conditions. Testing can be performed from 10+ weeks until the end of pregnancy.
