SEPTEMBER'S NDIS and NDIA UPDATES + 3RD OCTOBER ALERT
Welcome to this month's spoonful of sector tea. Weโve sifted through the September updates from the NDIS Commission and NDIA for you. Hereโs whatโs hot, whatโs changing, and whatโs worth a second look.
๐Inclusion Gets a Blueprint:
The NDIS Commission dropped its first-ever Disability Action Plan (DAP).
A renovation plan for inclusion where lived experience is now the architect, not just the guest. Which means:
- More respect.
- More representation.
- More โwe see you, we hear you.โ
๐Claiming Time Limits: Countdown Begins
From 3 October, youโve got 2 years to lodge claims from the support start date.
Translation: NDIS claims now come with an expiry date- like milk, but less mysterious.

๐Creative Therapies: Still Funded
NDIA confirmed art and music therapies are safe if theyโre backed by evidence. So if your plan includes painting, drumming, or expressive dance, youโre still in rhythm.
๐ID Checks: Smarter, Safer
NDIA is upgrading how it confirms who you are. Less faff, more security.
๐Guidelines Go Mainstream
The โOur Guidelinesโ microsite has retired. All official info now lives on the main NDIS website, one home, one truth.
๐Planning Reform: Brewing for 2026
New rules are in the works. Early whispers say: clearer communication, cultural safety, and assessors who actually get it.
๐Bonus Round: Word Games & Wellbeing
The Commissionโs newsletter theme this month? Unwind.
So yes, thereโs a maze. And yes, you deserve a moment to breathe.
