Women with PCOS have larger ovaries with or without cysts.
It is caused due to a hormonal imbalance, the body producing more levels of the male hormones.

This impacts the menstrual cycle and causes other symptoms that can vary from person to person, but some common ones include:

😮👉 Excessive hair growth on face, chest, back
😮👉 Weight gain
😮👉 Acne
😮👉 Irregular or missed periods

Maintaining a healthy lifestyle, eating well and regular exercise can help manage PCOS.

February is the month of heart research 💓
Heart disease is Australia’s leading single cause of death, with 18,590 deaths attributed to heart disease in Australia in 2017 and it kills one Australian every 28 minutes 😔

🔹 Heart disease is an umbrella term for a range of conditions that affect your heart and the term ‘heart disease’ is often used interchangeably with the term ‘cardiovascular disease’.

🔸 Cardiovascular disease generally refers to conditions that involve narrowed or blocked blood vessels that can lead to a heart attack, chest pain (angina) or stroke.

The good news is that by improving your lifestyle, including your diet and level of fitness, you can minimise the risk of getting cardiovascular disease 👨‍⚕️

Book an appointment now with one of our GPs to get more information 😊
