✨ 2025, what a year! ✨

As we look back on this year, we’re feeling incredibly proud of everything that’s been shared, achieved and celebrated at My Hero 😁 From big outings and exciting activities to the everyday moments that mattered just as much, this year was full of meaningful experiences.

There were adventures, new skills learned, goals reached, laughs shared and so many proud moments along the way 🙌✨The everyday wins were just as important too, like trying something new, building confidence and taking steps forward in ways that were unique to each person 😊

Everyone had something to celebrate this year, and that’s what made 2025 so amazing 💫 Thank you to our participants, support workers, families and community for being part of it all 🤍 We can’t wait to see what’s in store next year! 💚✨

Today’s Community BBQ was extra special as it marked our final BBQ for the year, and what a way to finish! 🌭✨ With good food and even better company, it was the perfect chance to celebrate an incredible year filled with laughs, connection and so many great memories 😁💫

🎉 Community BBQ Day is back!

We’ve shifted this month’s event from the usual last Wednesday to Wednesday the 17th December to make space for the Christmas and New Year period- but the vibes are exactly the same: welcoming, relaxed and all about community.

Join us at Seafront Oval from 11am–2pm for a free sausage sizzle, fairy bread, drinks and a chilled-out afternoon in good company 🧃🌭

This event is for people with disability, their families, friends and supports- and the whole community is welcome.

No RSVP needed, just come along and hang out! ☀️

🎉 A proud moment worth celebrating! 🎉

One of our amazing participants just started a job trial at a local kebab shop in town, and we’re so incredibly proud of how far she’s come to reach this moment 😁👏

This opportunity didn’t happen overnight; it’s the result of consistent capacity-building 💪 It’s a journey of learning practical skills, building confidence, practising communication, getting used to workplace routines and developing independence out in the community 🌏💫 With the support of their team, they’ve been slowly working toward employment goals, one small step at a time 😁

Seeing those skills come together in a real job trial is something truly worth celebrating. We’ll be cheering her on every step of the way as she takes on this new challenge and shows what she can do! 🌟

💫 Curious what a respite trip in Hervey Bay could look like for you? 🏖️

Hervey Bay and the Fraser Coast are such beautiful places to explore and they offer so many opportunities for confidence, independence and new experiences 🙏

We recently supported a participant who travelled up from Brisbane for a respite stay and spent the time exploring some of our favourite local spots around the coast 🌊🌤️

What seemed like a simple day out quickly became a day filled with skill-building moments, from choosing what to do next and planning the day together to navigating new places and trying things they hadn’t done before! It was relaxed, fun and meaningful all at once. 😊

☔️ Unfortunately, tomorrow’s Community BBQ has been cancelled due to the rainy weather forecast 🌧️

We were excited to welcome a fresh new month with a sunny catch-up but it looks like the skies have other plans!

In the meantime, if the rain keeps you indoors, here are a few cozy ways to enjoy the day:

📚 Get stuck into a good book
🎬 Start a new series or movie
🍪 Bake something warm and delicious
🎲 Bring out a board game for some fun at home

Since December’s BBQ date would fall right on Christmas, our next gathering will now be scheduled for the new year.

We’ll share the official date soon, and we can’t wait to kick things off with a proper sunny celebration together.

Stay safe, stay dry, and enjoy a relaxing rainy day, we will see you all in the new year! 💚😊

🌿Nothing beats a sunny day out exploring together! ☀️

We had a great adventure last week, enjoying some sunshine, a swim and a walk through the trails. It was such a nice way to spend the day outdoors and take in the views 🏞️

With support, we were able to navigate the walking tracks safely and at a pace that felt comfortable. These moments are a really important part of building confidence, practising independence and working towards personal NDIS goals, all while having a genuinely good time 💚

It was such a great day and we’re already looking forward to our next adventure! 😁

This week we were lucky enough to help bring a special beach day to life, with friends coming together to celebrate and enjoy the sunshine ☀️🏖️

The weather was perfect for splashing in the water, relaxing on the sand, sharing cake and creating the kind of moments that only happen when good people gather! 🎂😁

We love supporting our participants to build strong informal support networks and it was really lovely to see everyone come together, connect and make the day their own 💚

Can we just say… what a frightfully fun night! 👻
Our My Hero crew hit the streets for some Halloween trick-or-treating and it was a total scream! It was a blast of a night with fun costumes, candy collections and a few spooky surprises along the way! 🍬🕷️

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us under the moonlight with your fun and creative costumes 🌙 It was certainly a night to remember! 😁

💚 Cooking & Confidence in the Kitchen 👩‍🍳

This morning, we rolled up our sleeves for a fun and hands-on cooking session! 🥗 We love seeing participants step outside their comfort zone, try something new and discover just how capable they are 🌟 Every activity is a chance to learn, build independence and grow confidence, and today was no exception! 😄It was a great morning experimenting with fun flavours, trying new things and ultimately eating a yummy meal!
