Last week, our optometrist Nandita spent time connecting with our local healthcare colleagues, visiting The Oaks Village Pharmacy and meeting with pharmacist Donna.
As a therapeutically endorsed optometrist, Nandita is able to prescribe prescription eye drops, much like your GP. With specialised diagnostic equipment, we’re able to detect and treat many eye conditions — including infections, inflammation, and foreign bodies — and prescribe prescription eye drops early, helping prevent problems from becoming more serious.
These visits were all about strengthening local referral pathways and working together, so patients receive the right care, at the right time, from the right professional.
We’re proud to work alongside our local pharmacists and GPs to support the eye health of our Wollondilly community

Your eyes can tell an important story about your health.

Conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol can damage the tiny blood vessels in the retina (back of the eye). Over time, these vessels can leak, swell, bleed, or become blocked, reducing the retina’s oxygen supply and leading to conditions like retinopathy.
Often there are no early symptoms, which means changes can occur long before you notice any vision problems. Regular eye tests allow us to detect these changes early, monitor progression, and help protect your sight.

Last week, our optometrist Nandita and senior dispenser Melinda visited Thirlmere Medical Practice to connect with their GP team and strengthen local healthcare partnerships.

Working closely with local doctors allows us to provide seamless care for our community—whether it’s mutual referrals, co-management of red eye and eye infections, or foreign body removal when urgent attention is needed.

Together, we’re making it easier for patients to receive the right eyecare, at the right time, easily accessible within our local community.

Think twice before rubbing your eyes 👀
Eye rubbing might feel relieving in the moment, but repeated pressure can weaken the cornea (the fron t surface of the eye) over time and increase the risk of conditions such as keratoconus. It can also aggravate inflammation, raise the risk of infection, and leave eyes looking red, irritated or bruised.
Many people do this without even noticing. If your eyes often feel itchy or uncomfortable, reach for preservative-free lubricating drops or a cool compress instead. Ongoing irritation should always be checked by an eye care professional.
