Something really interesting came up with one of my clients this week…

She’s always struggled with her sleep — like, properly struggled.
But recently, something changed 👇

She went from training once a week to twice a week.

That’s it. No other major changes.

Last week she did a weights session on Thursday, felt sore through to Saturday (which is completely normal when you’re progressing), and then…

👉 She had one of the best nights’ sleep she’s had in ages
👉 And it’s continued since

She was honestly shocked.

Here’s what’s going on 👇

Strength training doesn’t just build muscle — it has a powerful effect on your nervous system and hormones, especially as we move into our 40s and 50s.

When you lift weights:

✔️ You increase sleep pressure — your body needs deeper recovery
✔️ You improve melatonin production (your sleep hormone)
✔️ You help regulate cortisol (stress hormone), which is often elevated with poor sleep
✔️ You use up more physical energy, which helps your body switch off at night
✔️ You support muscle repair, which happens during deeper stages of sleep

And here’s the key part…

As we age, we naturally lose muscle and our sleep quality can decline. Strength training helps counter both at the same time.

Two incredible women — one local, one further away — both joining the Freedom to Move 21-Day Challenge online, from wherever they feel most at ease.

💪 MONDAY REMINDER 💪

Even though I’m super focused and dedicated — I don’t rely on motivation to stay that way.

Saturday night, I was on the lounge thinking…
“Maybe I’ll take another week off training.” 😅

But I caught myself — because I know that pattern.
One week can easily turn into four if I let it.

So instead, I got up.
I decided that my “week off” would stay just that — one week.
I did a light session. Nothing big — just enough to break the inertia and keep the momentum alive.

Because here’s the thing 👇
It’s not about motivation.
It’s about structure and commitment.
