Not everyone working in disability care speaks fluent English. For some participants, this is actually a strength. This means they can connect with workers who understand their culture and language. But it can also create risks when it comes to safety, communication, and following important care instructions. Without the right training and safeguards, participants can be left vulnerable.
Thereโs also a deeper issue here, some NDIS providers appear to treat participants as numbers on a balance sheet, rather than people with goals, needs, and dignity. Profit-driven care results in neglect, poor treatment, and services that donโt genuinely support participants.
Disability support must always come back to one core principle: itโs about people, not profit.
