I often see debates of Vegans with someone who is not Vegan, and usually the conversation somehow changed rapidly into a health crusade. Both parties are trying to convince the other that their lifestyle is healthiest, sometimes a crazy argument arise, such as "but Vegans eat plants, and plants are alive, therefor you're not Vegan" which is a bit of a reach in my opinion.
What it comes down to is this.
As a Vegan, your aim should be to minimise the suffering you impose on other animals drastically, it is about choosing the least vi0lent way of life in all aspects.
The argument of health when talking about a Plant-based diet, we will not always win.
Why? Because the science is limited, when it comes to the amount of research that has been done, there is evidence to support a Mediterranean diet, which still includes fish, and there is evidence to suggest that a completely plant-based diet is better for preventing disease and creating longevity, which is what I focus on, as I find this evidence convincing.
So, research wise, we are not there yet. And of course this has many factors such as conflicts of interests within studies, studies that are funded by the meat and dairy industry, etc.
But untill the science that supports small amounts of meat disappears and is deemed illegitimate (even if it already is)
We won't win that argument with non-vegans most of the time
What argument will we win 100% of the time?
The argument that we cause unnecessary suffering on sentient beings that want to live, that we are vi0lent towards these animals and ab*se them, that people working in sl@ughter houses are desensitised to vi0lence and that this causes social issues that concern us all.
That it is injust to k*lI beings that want to keep living, that feel despair, sadness and fear in their last moments in life.
If you want to live a vi0l3nt free, peaceful and kind life, it starts on your plate.
It's our duty as Humans to take care of animals around us.
Go Vegan.
