🎓✨ A huge congratulations to these incredible Grade 12 girls, who have officially finished school and just completed their final exams!

Most of these young women have called Carman’s House (our girls hostel) home for over three years. It is a safe and supportive home for girls who would otherwise have no secure place to live while finishing their education.

In Ethiopia, only around 10% of girls make it all the way to the end of high school — so this is no small achievement. These students have overcome enormous challenges to get here, and we couldn’t be prouder. 💪🏾📚

✨ We made it!!

Our group is still buzzing from the experience of spending time on country, trekking parts of the Larapinta trail.

This was a very special adventure for all of us, taking in the beauty of the land, overcoming physical challenges, meeting new friends and in doing so raising funds for our work in Ethiopia.

We are incredibly thankful to…

the grandparents who babysat our groups kids, and
everyone who donated!

🕊️ 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗘𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿, 𝘄𝗲 𝗴𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟬𝟬 𝗳𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝟯𝗸𝗴 𝗼𝗳 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝘁!

In the Ethiopian Orthodox Church, Easter comes after a 55-day fasting period, when people give up all meat, dairy, eggs, and animal products. It’s the most important fast of the year and breaking it at Easter is a meaningful time for families.

But for many vulnerable families in Lalibela, the cost of meat makes it difficult—or impossible—to fully participate in these celebrations, especially at a time when food insecurity is worsening across northern Ethiopia. With your help, we helped hundreds of families to take part in this important religious & cultural tradition, plus enjoy a nourishing meal!

✨We’re thrilled to celebrate the completion of our major improvements at Sarsena Primary School! 📚✏️

🏫 We made all classrooms structurally safe, ensuring a secure learning environment.

🪑 We provided classroom furniture, creating a more comfortable and engaging space for students.

🚻 We constructed brand-new toilets for staff & students.

💡We connected the school to the national power supply—bringing lighting to the classrooms for the very first time!

We’re thrilled to share that the new toilets at Sarsena Primary School are officially complete! 🎉
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Students & staff now have access to safe, hygienic sanitation facilities, creating a healthier school environment.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It might seem like a small thing, but access to proper toilets means better hygiene, fewer illnesses, and more kids staying in school—a real game changer! 🙌

This is just one part of our larger project to improve education and healthcare in Sarsena, including safer classrooms, furniture, clean water, and electricity.

Our story...

During a trip to Ethiopia in 2009, Georgina visited a local primary school in a remote area of the country and that random road-stop became a life-changing event. Georgina was deeply affected by the conditions children were enduring at school and the barriers they were facing in obtaining an education. Georgina committed herself to doing something about it, co-founding Create Impact (formerly School’s A Gift) with Sophie Coleman, in 2010.

Create Impact has grown from a pipe-dream to help one school into an organisation that has impacted thousands of people in Ethiopia. We’ve built brand new schools and toilets, repaired dilapidated classrooms, supported students with education scholarships, created new permanent teaching positions, provided communities with access to clean water sources, delivered menstrual pads and education to girls and we are now building a brand-new Health Clinic.

The heart of Create Impact is the involvement of the local communities in Ethiopia and despite our growth, we remain a grassroots organisation whereby the local people propose, implement and manage each project.
