Andrew van Essen is an accomplished podiatrist with specialist registration as a Podiatric surgeon. Andrew's experience in managing complex foot pathology and attention to detail as a Podiatrist give him a unique set of skills to provide you with both surgical and non-surgical treatment. Andrew prides himself on taking time with you to provide a comprehensive assessment and advice on managing your foot problem. Andrew van Essen is a registered specialist Podiatrist and endorsed by the Podiatry Board of Australia to prescribe from a national list of scheduled medicines. He is a Commonwealth Accredited Podiatric surgeon for the purposes of private health insurance rebates and has completed training in Minimally Invasive (keyhole) Surgery. Completing his undergraduate podiatry qualification in 1981 Andrew began his career at Flinders Medical Centre working in high-risk diabetic foot care and paediatric clinics. In 1989 he began his surgical training and was granted Fellowship of the Australasian College of Podiatric Surgeons and endorsement for scheduled medicines in 1995. Andrew has worked in private practice and at various hospitals. He was also a visiting Podiatric surgeon at the Repatriation General Hospital from 2002 – 2010. In 2016 Andrew was awarded a Fellowship in the Faculty of Podiatric Medicine at the prestigious Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons (Glasgow).
