✨Tiny White Bumps That Won’t Budge? Let’s Talk Milia!

Have you noticed small, hard white bumps under your eyes, on your cheeks, or even your eyelids that don’t squeeze like pimples? Chances are, you’re dealing with milia — and you’re not alone!

🔍 What is milia?
Milia (whiteheads) are tiny cysts filled with keratin — a natural protein found in skin, hair, and nails. They form when dead skin cells get trapped just beneath the surface.

🧬 Why do they happen?

✔️ Skin that doesn’t exfoliate efficiently
✔️ Heavy or comedogenic skincare products
✔️ Sun damage or skin trauma
✔️ Sometimes just genetics — some people are prone!

💆‍♀️ How can we treat them?
While tempting, please don’t try to squeeze them — they’re too deep and you’ll likely damage your skin. Instead:

đź’› What Are Those Little Bumps on Your Face? It Could Be Sebaceous Hyperplasia

Ever noticed small, soft, yellowish bumps on your forehead, cheeks, or nose that just won’t go away — and don’t act like pimples?

These might be sebaceous hyperplasias đź‘€

✨ What is sebaceous hyperplasia?

It’s a benign overgrowth of the sebaceous (oil) glands, usually seen as:
🔸 Soft, flesh-toned or yellowish bumps
🔸 Often with a small central indentation (like a dimple)
🔸 Common in oily or mature skin
🔸 Totally harmless — but many clients want them gone for cosmetic reasons!

🧬 Why do they happen?
As we age or if we have naturally oilier skin, the sebaceous glands can become enlarged and clogged — leading to these visible, raised bumps. Sun damage and hormonal factors can also play a role.

🔬 Treatment options include:

đź’Ą Electrodesiccation (diathermy)
🧊 Cryotherapy (freezing)
🎯 Laser treatments (like CO₂ or erbium lasers)
🧴 And in some cases, topical retinoids may help prevent new ones forming & other laser treatments

‼️ Important: These are NOT blackheads, milia, or acne — so don’t try to squeeze them! It won’t work (and can make things worse).

✨ Why do we do peels at all?

Think of it like a reset button for your skin and it all comes down to the skins pH. Over time, dead skin builds up, pores get clogged, and that glow fades as the pH stays more alkaline as we age. Peels remove that layer to reveal fresher, smoother, brighter skin underneath and in turn assists the skin during the aging process. When the skin is in a slightly acidic state it protects against bacteria and free radicals whilst also building our skins resilience and healthy barrier function. Impaired barrier function, dryness and sensitivity are signs of a more too alkaline skin. It comes down to balancing the pH to 4.5 - 5.75 .

Those tiny dark dots on your nose or chin? Yep, they’re most likely blackheads — and no, they’re not dirt!

🧬 What exactly are blackheads?

Blackheads are a type of open comedone — formed when a pore gets clogged with oil (sebum), dead skin cells, and debris. When this mix is exposed to air, it oxidises and turns dark — that’s what you’re seeing on the surface.

💥 They’re NOT dirt — and scrubbing won’t solve the issue.

🧴 Why do blackheads happen?
