29 years ago, I embarked on my NICU journey - WOW! That makes me feel somewhat ancient. Great mentors guided me in making a medical and emotional impact on families. Mentoring helped me deliver exceptional care. Now, I see a changed landscape: task-oriented, time-efficient, understaffed, and new nurses seeming stressed. I'd love to hear from both seasoned and new nurses on the importance of mentoring in today's nursing climate.

As International Prematurity Month comes to a close it’s a good time to reflect that despite the percentage of preterm births on the rise, studies are showing improvement in those that survive are without disability. It means in developed countries (still socioeconomic and racial disparities ) health professionals have improved treatments and the way we care for these babies. If only we could translate this globally for every baby born too early.
