✋ All in for National Reconciliation Week 2026 ✋

Reconciliation will not happen by itself, and it will not happen without all of us.

It is a journey all Australians can take together, to commit wholeheartedly to reconciliation and advancing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ rights every day.

How are we doing this at AccessHC?
⚫ Partnering as a health provider for students at Melbourne Indigenous Transition School in Richmond, and with Oonah Health & Community Services Aboriginal Corporation by providing access to a physiotherapist in Healesville.
🟡 Committing to actively advancing reconciliation as part of our next Reconciliation Action Plan, and creating an inclusive environment where every voice is heard, valued, and respected.
🔴 Undergoing a truth telling process about our history, as guided by the Yoorrook Justice Commission.

This week and beyond, we honour the cultures, stories, and histories of First Nations peoples. We also look forward to a future of continued healing and better connection.

Today we recognise National Sorry Day.

A day to reflect, learn and stand in solidarity with Stolen Generation survivors.

AccessHC acknowledges the Stolen Generations - Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children who were forcibly removed from their families and communities, as well as the ongoing, intergenerational impacts caused by past policies of forced removal.

We can all play a part in the healing process for our people and nation, which begins with truth telling and respect. 🖤💛❤️

At AccessHC, we support the active expression of culture to build strong, trusting relationships, and apply culturally appropriate practice within our work.

We are committed to working in partnership with First Peoples to create a welcoming and safe place for everyone at our workplace and service by removing barriers to make it easier for people to engage with us.

Did you know that walking to school can help children build healthy habits, improve wellbeing, boost confidence and connect with their local community?

Friday 22 May is National Walk Safely to School Day, an annual event encouraging primary school children to travel actively and safely to school.

We’re proud to partner with Yarra Ranges Council and Eastern Health to support safe active travel through our Walk to School program, helping students build road safety skills and confidence while creating walkable school environments.

Want to get involved? Here are some simple ways to support your child:

✔️ Plan and practice the route together
✔️ Walk with friends or neighbours
✔️ If school is too far, park nearby and walk part of the journey

Together, small steps can make a big difference for children’s health, safety and independence.

Over the weekend, on May 17, we joined the community in recognising International Day Against LGBTQIA+ Discrimination (IDAHOBIT). 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

At AccessHC, we celebrate the diversity of our people and communities and acknowledge the ongoing discrimination these communities face. We celebrate the achievements made towards LGBTQIA+ equality but also know there's still more work to be done.

This week our teams have come together to amplify LGBTQIA+ voices and take a stand against discrimination in a number of rainbow celebrations and conversations. 🌈

We're proud to fight discrimination every day—and offer a safe and welcoming workplace and services for LGBTQIA+ communities.

We are celebrating one year since Access Health and Community and Inspiro merged to form a single, stronger organisation! 🥳✨

Over the past year, we've successfully expanded our high-quality health and community services in the Yarra Ranges, and we're so proud of what's been achieved so far, including:

🚼 Increasing child and family services in the Yarra Ranges, including new paediatric speech pathology, occupational therapy, dietetics and new support parenting programs.

🩺 Opening the Lilydale Medicare Urgent Care Clinic (UCC) - with over 2,000 people accessing the service in its first three months.

🔨 The renovation of 17 Clarke Street, where Inspiro Lilydale is located.

Together, we’ve built a single, stronger organisation dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing in our community. 💛❤️💙
