Aged care nurses deserve their fair share!

The government has recognised the value of nurses in aged care - now, it’s time for providers to deliver.

Under the Work Value Case, the government provided funding to aged care providers to pass on wage increases to their nurses, in respect of the value of the work nurses do every day.

The ANMF (SA Branch) thanks those providers who have done the right thing and passed on the Work Value Case funding.

However, we know a minority of providers haven’t. Please be assured, we are actively advocating for our members.

Climate change is reshaping healthcare, and nurses and midwives are at the forefront of the response.

From worsening air quality to rising health risks, the impacts are here now. That’s why the ANMF partnered with The Lancet Countdown to put health at the centre of Australia’s climate response - with clear, evidence-based priorities for action.

These priorities were featured in the 2025 Lancet Report, released ahead of COP30, and outline what must happen next:

👉 Cleaner air with enforceable national standards
👉 Long-term funding to protect health from climate impacts
👉 Shifting fossil fuel subsidies into health and climate science

🎥 A powerful webinar with expert speakers unpacks what this means for healthcare workers and our communities.

We are pleased to see that the evidence and insights we provided to the Select Committee into Stillbirth have been clearly reflected in the final recommendations.

We welcome the Government’s in-principal acceptance of all recommendations and its commitment to improving awareness, care and bereavement support for families and those caring for the families. We are proud to have contributed to this important work and support the steps being taken to improve outcomes for families, nurses and midwives.

When the devastating 2019-20 bushfires hit, four dedicated South Australian nurses and Army Reservists answered the call.

Deployed to Kangaroo Island for Operation Bushfire Assist, Michelle Farror, Martina Schipp, Suzie Rattigan and Hollie Sargeant set up crucial health facilities to support both defence personnel and the KI community.

But their duties soon extended beyond human care…

These amazing nurses soon found themselves using their triage and wound-management skills to help save hundreds of injured koalas and native wildlife.
