As we approach Remembrance Day, you'll see veterans wearing their medals (gongs) for services held on the 11th November. Take a moment to read the poem below, pausing, reflecting and paying respect for all who've served to protect our peace, values and way of life.

Don't envy a man or women and their medals, all those ribbons on his and her chest,
They did not try to get them, they're not there at his or her request, They were earned in stinking hell holes, where no man or women would like to go, Or in cold and wintry places, where there's only ice and snow.

They did not know they've earned them, till they were awarded at parade, They were bright when they first got them, but in time the colours fade, they're was told they had to wear them, and to wear them all with pride, But when the memories come to haunt them, those same medals make them hide.

Cause those medals will not bring back, all those guys and girls they've left behind, And they would trade them all forever, for a little peace of mind. So don't envy a man or women and their medals, you don't want to take their place, Thinking back to long gone battles, and meeting dead friends face to face.

There is discipline in a Soldier, you can see it when they walks, There is honour in a Soldier, you hear it when they talk, There is courage in a Soldier you can see it in his and her eyes, There is loyalty in a Soldier that he and she will not compromise.

There is something in a Soldier that makes them stand apart, There is strength in a Soldier that beats from his and her heart, A Soldier isn't a title, any man or women can be hired to do,
A Soldier is the soul of that man and women, buried deep inside of you.

A Soldier's job isn't finished, after an 8 hour day or a 40 hour week, A Soldier is always a Soldier even while they sleep. A Soldier serves their country first, and their life is left behind, A Soldier has to sacrifice, what comes first in a civilian's mind.

If you are civilian, I am saying this to you, Next time you see a Soldier remember what we do, A Soldier is the one that is brave, protecting you and me,
And If you know A Soldier, I am saying this to you.

ANZAC Day we pause, reflect and remember our heritage for the fallen, wounded and fortunate ones who've made it back home. Their sacrifice for our freedom came at great cost therefore we pay our respect in displaying our gratitude. Our foundation has been built on camaraderie and a bond through our ANZACs which is something deep in the hearts of all service personnel. As we pay our respects to our ANZACs on this day of commemoration, let's also honour all ADF and NZ Veterans who've signed to defend our nation's along with our allies in the pursuit of peace.

Average Joe's Ringwood RSL Team are recruiting for ADF veterans to compete in the Veteran Games in August 2024. We've got veterans from many parts of Victoria coming together keen to continue building our team in continuation of camaraderie found in service. Our purpose is aimed at creating proactive mental health strategies that enable life changing bonds for meaningful outcomes with a goal to keep us focused and looking forward to showcasing our skills learnt from team environments found within service. This is an opportunity where you'll be supported by Ringwood RSL who are financing our flights and accommodation heading to the Gold Coast for the competition scheduled for 17 - 18 August 2024.

Are you interested in connecting with a likeminded community that understands and supports your journey without misinterpretation, whilst bringing a sense of purpose after service?

If so, please contact Jason Isaac on 0411 339 486 or email jasonjeffreyisaac@gmail.com.au for further conversation on how you can be connected. If you or anyone you know that's served in the ADF please feel free to share this information and lets continue in the fight for our brothers and sisters in arms.

This month, I am conquering 192km to help prevent veteran su***de and save lives.

So far generous donors have supported 21 peer support sessions, 13 employment engagements and 1 psychology session. I'm grateful for the continued support towards honouring our veterans and provide opportunities that enable them and their families to thrive.

It's now Day 7 of my challenge, and I would love your support to fund Soldier On's life-saving mental health services and programs to help our heroes march on.

I'll carry the weighted vest which represents the mental health burden our veterans carry. When the weighted vest is lifted it's a significant symbol of the support strategies that are provided by Soldier On Australia

I have completed 37km of my 192km March On challenge.

I'm walking on the virtual Kokoda track, to walk in the footsteps of our brave heroes, and to symbolise their courage and sacrifice.

I'll be marching on until the end of this month and I would love your support!

Every dollar raised will go towards funding Soldier On's life changing mental health services to support our brave veterans and their families.

My fundraising target is $800 and I've currently raised $261, thank-you for all who've generously given. The support you've provided enables veterans 21 peer support sessions, 13 employment support engagements and 1 psychology session.

Lets keep going and together we'll provide further support which will enable veterans and families to thrive.

This month, I'm taking part in the March On challenge and conquering 192km to support our veterans and their families.

Right now, our veterans aged between 25 - 44 are 2.7 times more at risk of su***de than other members of our community.

So, I'm taking on this challenge to fund Soldier On's life changing mental health services and programs to help prevent veteran su***de and save lives.

Please sponsor my 192km challenge now and together, we will help our heroes march on.
