💜 Dementia Action week 💜
Dementia isn’t just “getting older.” It’s caused by brain diseases that affect memory, thinking & behaviour. Alzheimer’s is the most common type of dementia, but not the only one.
What many don’t realise is that dementia can also affect people under 65, this is called younger or early-onset dementia. Because people are still working, raising families, or living very active lives, the signs are often missed. But an early diagnosis can open the door to more support, treatment options and planning for the future.
Some of the changes to look out for include:
🧠 Struggling to follow conversations
🧠 Getting lost in familiar places
🧠 Confusion about time or dates
🧠 Unexpected changes in mood or personality
⚠️ These aren’t just “normal ageing”, they’re signals to reach out for help.
Here’s the most important part, no one has to face dementia alone. With the right care & community, many people continue to live meaningful, connected lives for years after diagnosis. 💜
💡 If you’re worried about yourself or someone you love, a good first step is talking to your GP. They can listen to your concerns, rule out other causes & connect you with the right specialists & support services.
If you or someone you love is concerned, support is available:

This week is about awareness, action & hope. Together, we can break stigma & build dementia-friendly communities. 💜
