Today, we recognise and celebrate the incredible nurses at REDHS and across the world who advocate, care, and lead with compassion every day.
Nurses are more than healthcare professionals, they are voices for their patients/residents/clients, champions for safer care, and advocates for healthier communities. They support people in their most vulnerable moments, ensuring dignity and humanity are never overlooked.
Behind every shift is a person making countless decisions that change lives. Their strength, empathy, and commitment shape the future of our local healthcare in ways that often go unseen.
To every nurse: thank you for the important role you play, the trust you build, and the care you give so selflessly. Your impact reaches far beyond our health service walls, and today we honour all that you do.
Happy International Nurses Day 2026 💙

A Beautiful Gift

REDHS Social Support Group is delighted to now enjoy a beautiful piano, generously donated by Lorraine Wellington.

The piano, made by The Cable Company, Chicago, has a wonderful history. It journeyed from Melbourne to Lorraine’s great grandmother’s home at Bears Lagoon, was handed down to the eldest daughter, and arriving at Lorraine’s home 55 years ago. Today, it has a new home in REDHS’s Function room, where it is ready to be enjoyed by many for years to come.

Our sincere thanks and appreciation Lorraine and also to Joshua McPherson from Making Melody Music – Piano Tuning and Moving for carefully delivering and tuning this special gift. Thank you!

Today marked the exciting start of the:

Future Focus – Next Generation Healthcare YTO project.

This Youth Takeover Project at Rochester Elmore District Health Service, in partnership with Campaspe Cohuna LLEN, Rochester Secondary College and their Year 12 VCE Vocational Major students.

Students kicked off the program with their first session, taking part in an induction at the hospital led by Meaghan Douglas and Charmaine Miller. It was a fantastic introduction to the vital role REDHS plays in supporting the Rochester and district community.

Over the next 8 weeks, students will rotate through a range of departments across the hospital, gaining first-hand insight into the services provided and the many career pathways within the healthcare sector.
As part of the project, students will also explore how the Rochester community is growing and changing — researching population trends and considering what health services may be needed for future generations.
The project will culminate in students presenting their findings back to REDHS, providing valuable insights to help inform future planning.

We can’t wait to see how their ideas develop and to hear the final outcomes!
