Sam is a fully qualified and registered Senior Art Psychotherapist, Animal Assisted Therapist and Specialist Education Consultant, holding a masters degree in Art Psychotherapy and postgraduate teaching degree in Art and Special Needs. She enjoys maintaining her own ongoing practice in photography and experiential art making along side working with her clients at Barefoot Therapists.

Over the next few weeks I’ll be meeting with MPs and policy representatives to contribute to conversations around Thriving Kids and broader child and family support reforms.

There’s a lot of change happening across education, health, disability, mental health, and community sectors across Australia at the moment, and many families and professionals are trying to navigate what these changes may look like moving forward.

Part of these conversations will also include The ARC Initiative and how approaches grounded in early intervention, sustained supports, and personalised, connected care can help strengthen inclusion, wellbeing, participation, confidence, connection, and happiness for children and families across all areas of life and development.

I’m really grateful for the opportunity to contribute to these conversations and to continue advocating for connected, child-centred approaches that strengthen the supports around children, families, schools, and communities. 💛

Strong therapeutic work doesn’t happen in isolation. It grows through respectful collaboration, thoughtful reflection, and a shared commitment to keep the client’s needs at the centre of every decision.

Peer supervision and professional support spaces help us remain accountable, practise within our expertise, and strengthen the layers of care around the people we support.
