This Men's Health Week, let's help create an environment where boys and men can be themselves and express their emotions. 💙

One of the ways you can help is by looking out for your mates and being willing to start a conversation with them about mental health. 💬

Whether it’s with a friend, family member or colleague, opening up about mental health can help people feel supported and confident that they can share their thoughts and feelings, especially during tough times. It might just be the first step to getting further help if they need it.

Head to our blog for more details on how to have these conversations: https://www.health.qld.gov.au/newsroom/features/how-to-have-a-conversation-with-a-mate-about-mental-health

Did you know ( ) is the leading cause of hospitalisation in Australian infants?

During , we’re on a mission to raise awareness of this serious virus and the need to protect our most vulnerable.

This year brings a significant breakthrough – for the first time, all Aussie families have free access to RSV immunisation options to safeguard their babies.

One of these options is an infant immunisation for babies whose mothers didn’t receive the pregnancy vaccine or who have additional risk factors.
We know this incredible immunisation works – it was found to be 86% effective in preventing infant hospitalisations in Western Australia last year. With the right uptake, it has the potential to make a huge difference in protecting little ones.

If your baby is currently in their first winter and you’d like to find out more, speak to your doctor or immunisation provider. Please don’t let them go unprotected.

National Reconciliation Week is an opportunity for all Australians to reflect on and strengthen relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous Australians.

The Department of Health, Disability and Ageing is actively working to embed Priority Reforms set out in the National Agreement on Closing the Gap to help overcome health inequities.

Our effort is driven by the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Plan 2021-2031, designed in partnership with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people from across the First Nations Health Sector.

We recognise the inherent strengths of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and their continuing contributions to improving the health and wellbeing of all Australians, now and for generations to come.
