A beautiful camp and practice spot on Paralungkatik, Macquarie Harbour, Lutruwita Tasmania. I'm not used to wearing so many layers to practice, though the day depicted here was pleasant.
The changing waters, ranges and sky are mesmerising!
Online classes conclude next week and resume first week of February.

Beautiful Murray Falls on Girramay Country, FNQ near Cardwell a few weeks ago.
I don't practice here but the large flat rocks and cool waters were just too tempting to refuse this lovely photo opportunity!
In the last shot I am leading a Postcard Yoga sesh beside the van which is where I also practice most days. Please join me if you feel drawn to follow our travels and get into some good yoga. Mondays 6pm, Wednesdays 7am and Fridays 9am Eastern time. DM for Zoom details.

I found myself in the relatively featureless FNQ town of Ayr. With all local sightseeing opportunities exhausted and hubby committed to work for another week I decided to take myself on a self-led retreat.
A lovely yoga centre was available over the weekend to escape the midges that abound under my van awning. There is something about going to a dedicated space away from home that makes retreat somehow more sacred. The owner did me a good deal to come and go as I pleased.
It felt important to have a laid out plan to adhere to.
Here's the schedule:
Day 1
Morning sit 30 mins- tea
Morning active asana, standing/ arm balances 2.5 hours
Afternoon Inversions, restorative and pranayama 90 mins
Day 2
Morning sit 30 mins- tea
Morning active asana, backbends/ twists/ forward bends 2.5 hours
Afternoon Inversions, restorative and pranayama 90 mins
I felt so refreshed afterwards. I can highly recommend a self-retreat if you find yourself an open weekend sometime!

Top pic is an old one from Carnavon Gorge because Postcard Yoga has gotten a tad dull in the dry tropics....we're still rolling, 3 classes a week, just not so pretty...the sky one is me doing my practice in the tent to escape the midgies. I can *just* raise my arms standing in the tent! Plenty of space.
The bottom two are some beautiful waters we encounter on the weekend escapades; the poorly named but phenomenally beautiful Alligator Creek and then Yenbenun, Magnetic Island.
I contacted a yoga centre in Ayr and they're happy for me to use the space this weekend for a self-led retreat..having exhausted the sight-seeing here I'm going to disappear for a couple of days. Quietly excited about that. 🙃

This was fun! Impromptu class with some Argentinian and French travellers at Platypus Bush Camp, Finch Hatton Gorge QLD.
Nirlamba Sarvangasana (unsupported shoulder stand) to finish my practice at camp. In these settings I have a couple of mozzie coils burning all around to keep the midges and mosquitos at bay.

Lovely places along the road...Postcard Yoga rocking it!
Carnarvon Gorge, traditional lands of the Bidjara and Karingbal people, is where we are presently, such amazing country. The rain has finished and what remains is a lush green landscape abundant with leaf, bird and roo. The huge sandstone rock faces drip with moisture into mossy outcrops and the stream gathers all into itself.
Girraween, 'place of flowers' was similar in that there is a 'fullness' to life in the landscape.

Postcard Yoga Update:
While life has been so very different since we left Brisbane nearly six (!) months ago, we were grounded in a couple of places for a bit while Teja finished building his mum's house. That's done now and so Postcard Yoga is on the road at last!
Greetings from Yaegl country.
We came through Bundjalung NP and are now camped at Red Cliffs in Yuragir NP- so beautiful! The ocean is roaring, the birds are tweeting and kangaroos graze all around us.
We've made a habit of catching each sunrise and sunset, staying in the shade through the middle parts of the day.
Today was a wonderful watershed moment where I successfully powered the satellite internet to the car's second battery, so now I can go anywhere away from the caravan to teach the classes and practice with my colleagues online.
This is important as often the van site is not ideal- it may have other campers nearby, may not offer the best space for yoga in terms of light, sound, wind, shade protection, nice ground- so many things to consider!

Dwi pada viparita dandasana, that's a big mouthful for something that is actually quite simple.
See how the chair-supported back arch opens the chest and shoulders?
Backbends tend to be energetically stimulating but because of the support it's relatively effortless to create the opening.
That means that there is a calmness and a coolness to this one, which might be used as a preparation to amp things up, soothe things down or perhaps as a nice restful opening before inversions.

Postcard Yoga set to resume on 20 January, woo hoo!
We haven't moved off this beautiful mountain yet, the abundant birds and the ever-changing vista holding us for now.
Practice here is so lovely! The warmth is keeping the body supple and the retreat-like quality of the place makes it easy to get on the mat with so few distractions. Well maybe a few mozzies keep me from really going 'in'!
I've got a mindfulness meditation retreat booked in for myself in a couple of weeks time, then a final (?!) visit from our son will see us away before too long.
Funny how 'sticky' places can be, particularly with friends and family close by.
Class times for QLD are:
Mondays 6:00- 7:15pm (starts 20/1, no class 27/1)
Wednesdays 7:00- 8:30am (starts 22/1)
Fridays 9:00- 10:30am (starts 24/1)
Add an hour for folks living in Eastern Daylight Savings Zones.
Get in touch for Zoom Links, but they're same as last year if you already have them.
And, get your feet on a mat! You know you need it

I've been concluding some Postcard Yoga sessions down at the creekside.
From the moist valley of Terania Creek up to the eagle's nest at Mount Billen.
Since there is a scarcity of flat ground here, we have a housesit for some time. The new work space!
