Another awesome Friday Night Social with our participants! 🎳

We kicked the night off with a game of tenpin bowling at Cross Road Bowling Centre. There was plenty of banter, laughs, and friendly competition — so much so that I completely forgot to take photos during the game!

After bowling, we headed into the CBD and Chinatown where everyone sat down together and enjoyed a great meal and some good conversation. We wrapped up the night with a quick stop at Yo-Bar for dessert, which was the perfect way to finish the evening.

Thanks to everyone who came along and made it such a fun and memorable night. I had such a great time I forgot to capture most of it — thankfully Alex came to the rescue and sent through a few photos. Legend, thanks mate!

🎳 Friday Night Socials – Chinatown Tenpin Bowling!

Tonight we are heading into Chinatown for a bit of tenpin bowling fun. Good laughs, a bit of friendly competition, and hopefully a few strikes.

Friday Night Socials is heading out and about again this week! 🎉

We’ve decided to skip the footy this time (controversial, I know 😅) and make the most of the last bit of daylight savings. The forecast looks pretty good — no rain, just a bit of wind to keep the hairstyles interesting.

We won’t be heading into the Adelaide Fringe this week (we’ve already ticked that box), and we’ve also done a few trips down to Glenelg recently.

So now we’re looking for ideas!

Respite at My Mates Place isn’t just about staying in a different house — it’s about experiences, fun, and building confidence in the community.

This weekend was a great example. We kicked things off with pancakes for breakfast (participant’s choice and he even helped cook them), a bit of basketball out the back, and some remote control car racing. Then we headed out with a small group to the Adelaide Fringe.

Like many people, jumping into a big busy crowd can take a minute to warm up. But with a little time and encouragement, the smiles came out. We watched a magic show, cheered on some brave souls on the rides, grabbed some nachos from the food trucks, and shared plenty of laughs and banter along the way.

That’s what respite should be — not just time away, but real life experiences, friendships, confidence building, and positive time in the community.

Great food, good company, and a magic show… not a bad way to spend a day!

Friday Night Socials kicked off last night with Round One of the footy! 🏉

We had a great group of people come along, with plenty of laughs, good conversation, and lots of banter about the game… even if it was a little one-sided! 😅

For dinner we organised build-your-own pizzas, and everyone had fun creating their own personalised masterpieces. Some very creative topping choices out there!

Thanks to everyone who came along and made it such a great night.

Looking forward to seeing you all again soon at the next My Mates Place social! 👏

What an amazing night at the Ed Sheeran concert! 🎶

Matthew and I arrived early and were just settling in when we ran into Isaac from Inclusive Football, who ended up hanging out with us. Not long after that I bumped into Jack, a new participant, and his mum Cindy joined us as well.

What started as a one-on-one outing with Matt quickly turned into a true My Mates Place moment — a small group of friends coming together and enjoying a really special night.

Sometimes the best memories are the ones you don’t plan. Great music, great company, and a night we won’t forget! 😊

📣 Grand Final Update
Tuesday night’s Grand Final against Payneham has now been moved to Thursday night. This is due to the Adelaide Crows returning from Perth after their game against Fremantle and needing extra recovery time.

I won’t be able to attend Thursday night as I’ll be at the Ed Sheeran concert 🎶 I’m currently confirming plans with Mia and the team and will keep everyone posted.

T20 DIV 3 Grand Final

Thursday, March 5th, our Payneham Senior Men’s Div 3 T20 side are playing in the Grand Final against PAOC at Payneham Oval, with the game starting from 4.30pm. 

Our team plays against a PAOC side made up of majority Adelaide Crows players. Therefore if you are a Crows fan, football fan, or are just interested in seeing the cricket skill level of AFL players such as Taylor Walker, Jordan Dawson, Riley Thilthorpe and more, please come out and watch the T20 game.

Bar will be open from start of play. BBQ will also be run throughout the night. Our friends over at will come out to have a pop up bar boundary-side on the night!
