Welcome Jose Alonso.
Jose brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his role as a Mental Health First Aid Facilitator, drawing on a diverse background in education and law enforcement. With a career spanning over 30 years, Jose has made significant contributions in both fields. He is passionate and committed to up-skilling others and providing much needed education on managing mental health concerns within the workplace.
Beginning as Secondary School teacher, Jose taught in several remote schools in outback Queensland, where he not only educated students but also provided support to address behavioural and mental health challenges. In 1994, Jose transitioned to the Queensland Police Service, where he has since dedicated himself to a multifaceted career. In this 30 years of service, Jose has held various roles, including service as a facilitator at the Queensland Police Academy. There, he delivered important modules on law, social issues, mental health, and su***de prevention. Additionally, Jose has worked in several forensic fields within the police service, gaining invaluable experience in addressing complex issues related to mental health.
Jose holds a Bachelor of Science and a Diploma of Teaching, and is currently pursuing a Master of Suicidology, expected to be completed by the end of 2025. He is an accredited Mental Health First Aid Facilitator with Mental Health First Aid Australia, a global, purpose-driven provider of mental health first aid education that equips individuals with the knowledge and skills to provide support when it matters most.
