Meet Chile the Holstein Friesian calf. This lucky boy was adopted by a beautiful family as a pet.
On examination he was noted to have an umbilical hernia and so he came to see Dr Kat for a general anaesthetic and surgical repair of the hernia. He came through the surgery fanatically and we thoroughly loved having him with us for the day 💕

Are your pets microchipped? 🕵️♀️
Meet Rupert! This poor boy was brought to us last week, after being found in the bush in Mooney Mooney Creek.
Because he was microchipped, with up to date details, we were able to contact his mum. It turns out that he had been missing for 8 weeks, and was 100km from home!!
We treated his wounds, fed him and organised transport to get him back to his very relieved mum over the weekend.
If you are unsure if your pet is microchipped, you can bring them in for us to scan. If you need to update the chip details (i.e. when you move or change phone number), you can do this online at www.petregistry.nsw.gov.au, or at your local council.

Gliders! Most of us have seen videos of adorable sugar gliders but did you know there are 7 different species of gliders in Australia?
Whilst all these gliders are incredibly diverse in appearance and habits, they all share one thing in common - they all depend on tree hollows to call home. Take care when cutting down trees and try to leave natural habitats for them where possible! 🌳

Unfortunately due to the floods there is a disruption in supply of tick antiserum. If we continue to use up our supplies at the current rate, we will run out. This means that if your pet is to be affected by a paralysis tick, we may not be able to treat them.
This means you NEED to make sure your animals are protected against ticks and the treatment is up to date. If you need advice on appropriate tick prevention for your animal, our lovely nurses can assist you.

Tick season is well and truly upon us, and we have been seeing tick paralysis cases every day for weeks now.
We strongly urge all our clientele to check their animals daily for ticks and to make sure they are up to date with prevention. If you find a tick on your pet, please present them to a vet as soon as possible!

There is a scheduled release of calicivirus happening on the Central Coast on the 17th of March.
If you have pet rabbits, we strongly urge you to make sure they are up to date with their vaccinations, and to keep them inside, separate from wild rabbits.
In line with the current recommendations from the Australian Veterinary Association, we will now be advocating for 6 monthly boosters for all rabbit vaccines.
